Located on the shores of Bull Shoals Lake and Lake Taneycomo is Forsyth, Missouri. Just 12 miles from Branson, this quaint, little town has a population of 1,670.
In addition to the courthouse and county offices, Forsyth has many other businesses to support the growing population including grocery stores, restaurants, banks, medical facilities, shops, and more.
The town of Forsyth has an interesting history. The Village of Forsyth was incorporated in December of 1890.
In 1913, Powersite Dam was built to produce electricity in the Ozarks. One of the results of this dam was the creation of Lake Taneycomo.
The town was once located about 2 miles from its present site. The reason for the change in location was the construction of Bull Shoals Dam, about 80 miles from Forsyth. The people of Forsyth had to choose between moving and ceasing to exist. In the early 1950's, the city leaders chose to be reimbursed for the city's land and moved.
The city was recently given the distinction as having the best-tasting water in the state. This title was awarded at a Missouri Rural Water Association seminar. Making this judgment were professionals from the Department of Natural Resources and the Environmental Protection Agency.
The best-tasting water, two wonderful lakes to enjoy, a beautiful small town-what more could you want in a place to live?

Why buy now? Because interest rates are LOW!
Instead of buying right now, are you waiting for prices to drop?
What if the price drops but the interest rates rise? Comparing payments on a home reduced by 10% but purchased at a one-half percent higher interest rate would be very close to the monthly payments on a home purchased at full price at today's interest rate. Have I confused you yet?
Here's an example: if you purchase a home at $100,000 at 5.6% for 30 years, your payments will be $574.08 per month. If you wait and find a home for $90,000, but the interest rate has increased to 6.1%, then your payments will be $545.40 per month. The difference in payments in a year's time is $344.16 or less than $1 per day. (This example assumes a loan of $100,000 verses a loan of $90,000).
In the meantime, you've lost the tax advantages of owning a home for the time period you waited and you made someone else's mortgage payment by paying rent! Then there's the chance that prices will not drop. Then you've really missed out.
There's no time like the present!
Kimberling City is a beautiful town located on the banks of Table Rock Lake in Stone County, Missouri. With a population of 2,253; Kimberling City is the largest town in the county. The city has a total area of 3.8 square miles. Several more homes exist outside of the city limits and have a Kimberling City address.
The main attraction in this small town, of course, is the lake. In addition, Kimberling City is only about 15 miles from Branson. Multitudes of people retire here every year from all across the country. It's also a popular spot to own a vacation home or condo.
Give me a call if you'd like to know more about this wonderful place to call home!
Why, it's six miles south of Lampe, of course! I wish I could take credit for that line but I can't. I saw it on a t-shirt in a convenience store in Lampe.
Now to get serious, Blue Eye, Missouri, is the southernmost town in Stone County. In fact, part of the town is in Missouri and part is in Arkansas. It's located just south of the MO 86 and MO 13 intersection.
According to the 2000 U.S. Census, the population was 129 and the the town has a total area of 0.5 square miles.
I'm not sure how this small town got its name. The Stone County Relocation Guide mentioned that the name is possibly derived from its first postmaster's distinctive blue eyes. If anyone has any insight on this subject, please let me know.
If you're looking at properties around Table Rock Lake, you're sure to see Blue Eye mentioned, as this is the mailing address for some of the popular lake communities around Table Rock. The subdivisions include Twin Island Estates, Grand Cru, Longview, Charter Oaks, just to mention a few.
This photo was taken from a home with a Blue Eye mailing address.
Now you not only know where in the world Blue Eye, Missouri, is located but also a little about the town. You can impress your friends with your wealth of knowledge!
One of my favorite "day trips" is antique shopping in Botkinburg, AR. Located about 2 hours south of Branson on Highway 65, this little town is the home of the Antique Warehouse and not much else. But that's okay as it will take you hours to see everything in the warehouses!
You'll find all kinds of treasures in the 90,000 square feet of shops, warehouses, and showrooms. Most of the warehouses are filled with furniture, but you can find antique plates, clocks, photos, and other items too. The last time I was there, they also had a whole building of stained glass windows and old doors.
I believe all of the furniture comes from Europe. The owner tags the items with their country of orgin and also the approximate date it was made. Some of the furniture is refinished and in mint condition while other pieces need some work. You can have their staff refinish the item of furniture for you or take it home and do it yourself.
If you love antiques, especially furniture, you'll want to take a trip to Botkinburg. Their web site is: www.antiquewarehouse.com Happy Antiquing!
