The amount of discussion and email I receive to "get out the vote" is almost obscene. Doesn't matter where you go...somebody will hit you up and ask something with regards to this presidential election. Who are you voting for? First of all, it would be none of their business and second...does it matter?
The media has done an impressive job of promoting that "our vote counts" and that "we elect our presidents" etc. But is this true? NO!
It is like nobody was paying attention to when they learned that the United States was a Republic...not a Democracy. We have an electoral college that elects a president and they are under no obligation to follow the popular vote, and have ignored it before!
Does this mean we shouldn't go cast our vote? I think if it makes you feel better... then go! If nothing else, I've heard people say it makes them feel patriotic to participate in the system. The Matrix Lives!
Ok, all joking aside, does it really matter if we vote? I personally am not going to vote this year. Yes, for the reason that I mentioned earlier, but mostly because there isn't anyone running who represents my values or ideas. If you compare the current values of our two electable candidates, and compare them to even recent history (the last 30 years), Republicans have become liberals and Democrats have become socialists. And almost everybody seems happy with it, or the change has been gradual enough where they haven't noticed the words they use...it is quite scarey to me, and yes, this is just my opinion.
Ok, now that I've proven that I'm a bit of a whack job...everybody think! Read a little history. Try The Creature from Jekyll Island as a starter. Then move forward. Where has this country gone?
The idea of America, the United States is Awesome, and I love our country! It is too bad however that we are no longer a free or sovereign country. Before long, we'll be on the Amero sharing a currency with Canada and Mexico. Don't think it will happen? Do you remember life before 911 and the un-Patriot Act? You know, where you were innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around...feel safer? NOT!
By the way, my way of thinking isn't overly popular, hence anybody that believes as I do is unelectable as a presidential candidate. I'm considered a non forward thinking individual who doesn't understand that the Constitution is supposed to change meaning, based on current values, that the people who wrote it just couldn't understand what was going to happen in the future.
If I have offended anyone with my little rant, please forgive me. My goal was not to offend. However this is America, and there is still supposed to be freedom of speech...
Blessings
Article 1, Section 7 of the Constitution says: "All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives;"
Simply put, that means the $770 billion revenue raising bailout bill needs to originate in the House and that it's unconstitutional for the Senate to try and pass this bill before the House does.
Does that make any difference to out elected officials? Obviously not.
Of course the Senate is essentially taking up the House-version of the bill and making the $700 billion Paulson plan an amendment to, aptly enough, a mental health and addiction bill, H.R. 1424
A mental health and addiction bill...I guess that makes sense doesn't it? Our mentally challenged and power addicted government can do anything they want simply by scaring the pants of the country. Control the press, control the populace.
Many of my real estate and mortgage counterparts are actually excited by this bill. It amazes me how short sighted everyone appears to be and how everyone just follows like sheep. They could care less if this bill is unconstitutional, or is horrible for the dollar, or is terrible for the future of our country. Just take care of me NOW appears to be the common thinking.
Funny thing is... nobody is offereing to help bail out our individual real estate business' that are currently struggling! Let's just bail out large banks that made poor choices. Yea...that makes sense! Truly a screw the little guy and bail out the big fools!
Ok, so this is really more of a rant and truly sorry about that, but I'm sad for our country. Just another example of how we truly don't live under the constitution...as if we needed more proof!
At a time when money is hard to borrow, many homebuyers who were considering moving up have now decided to stay in their current home. However, to make their current home fit their current needs, they are remodeling, adding on, or even completely restoring their homes.
It may be the answer to today's housing market. Can't sell your home in today's market for fear of not getting all the equity out of your house? House been on the market a long time, and you know the outdated kitchen or bath is slowing interest? Today's homeowners are stepping back and assessing their present home either in how better to get it sold, or how to update it and stay in it for a few more years.
And smart builders like Deer Creek Construction in Franklin, Tennessee, long known for its luxury custom building, are now focusing on the needs of the fast-growing Remodel, Renovation, and Restoration market. With the impact of HGTV and its plethora of remodel, redesign, and restoration shows, American homeowners are now seeing their homes in an entirely different light. That small bathroom with its outdated tile is seen for the deal-breaker it is. Or a master bedroom that begs to be a ‘master suite,' or that old "porch" that cries to be a year-round sunroom for more family living-it's all within reach.
Deer Creek Construction offers services for complete remodels or renovations of kitchens, baths, master suites, attics, and more. And we are very proud of the restoration of some of the historic homes in downtown Franklin. If you're thinking about expanding out the back or off the side, or have an historic home you'd like to restore to its former glory, Deer Creek brings 16 years of design and construction expertise to your project. Every facet from a design draftsman on-staff who can re-draw your plans, to budget estimates, to final walk-through and new beautiful living spaces-it's all at Franklin's premier builder, Deer Creek Construction, Inc.
