Did You See That?

How will these tough economic times effect Laurel real estate? Well did you watch the stock market yesterday? After dropping over 700 points it went back up almost 500 points.

Did you see that?

All this gloom and doom about how bad the stock market is doing because of all these businesses going under. Now that the market shot up again, does that mean everything is ok? No ofcourse not. The stock market will survive anything. It has survived wars, natural disasters and even the 9/11 tragedy. The stock market is not a good way to judge where we are financially.

I am not sure what is a good way to judge where we are economically as a country. I will tell you this....I believe it is a global economy. All countries effect each other. So where we are is connected to where everyone else is.

So how is all this going to effect Maryland real estate? I am not sure. The lenders I work with are ready to lend. No one has told me they don't have any money. There has been some tightening of the rules, but not prohibitively so. However, to counter that, prices have come down significantly.

You know what this is? This is a great time to buy a home in Laurel Md. In fact, its a great time time to buy any Maryland real estate.

Hail To The Redskins In Laurel Md

When I purchased my first Laurel real estate over ten years ago, I had no idea if my neighbors shared my passion for the Washington Redskins football team. I use to live in Montgomery County Md and that was Redskin country. When I moved to Laurel Md, I knew I was a little bit closer to Baltimore Md, the home of the NFL Baltimore Ravens. In fact, I was now only thirty minutes from the Ravens new stadium.

What I have discovered is that most of my neighbors are Redskin fans. Yes, there are some Raven fans here as well. There are more Ravens fans here than in my previous residence in Montgomery County Md. It appears that Laurel Md is mostly Washington Redskin turf. The Baltimore Ravens are a good football team and have one a Super Bowl more recently than the Redskins. It looks like the Ravens will have a good team this year.

I enjoy the kidding fans of different teams give each other. I just don't like people who are jerks and don't know when they have crossed a line. I also like people who are knowlegable about the game and can admit when a player from another team makes a good play. Forunately, most Raven and Redskin fans are knowledgable and good sports.

Thank goodness Redskin and Raven fans can live in peace next to each other. It makes living in Laurel Md that much more enjoyable.
