Brookings, Oregon ~ Sailing the Serendipity

We finally sailed the Serendipity!!

Serendipity

Yesterday we took her out for the very first time and how exciting it was. But it was also a bit scary. We had never sailed before and I was nervous. I called my mother before we left the house to say good-bye and that I loved her. I also told her if she didn't hear back from me by dark to call the coast guard.

But I had no reason to be afraid. Alan had taken sailing classes with the Brookings Yacht Club and he knew what he was doing....I think! It was a perfect day for a maiden voyage. Clear skies, light breeze, and hardly any swells. I probably didn't even need to take that Dramamine! The wine, cheese and crackers were a nice touch as well!

We saw jelly fish, water birds, huge pelicans and the view from the ocean towards Brookings was a perspective I enjoyed immensely. We also did a little fishing and caught some nice bottom fish!

I think I am hooked, but I don't believe I want to try to live aboard Serendipity. She is just a tad too small. Even though my husband has made numerous comments about living on a sailboat...he better get a larger one if he wants me to live on board!!

On a personal note...I enjoy theater so much but because I can't sing I will not be auditioning!! I do plan to help with set construction...and I know Dori will need plenty of hands because this set is going to be elaborate!
