With the disaster in Haiti, as members of Meadowridge Rotary, we would like to make you aware of the Rotary Shelterbox program. The Shelterbox provides an immediate solution to enable families to start rebuilding their lives. The Shelterbox contains everything a family up to ten needs to provide short term relief and a start to reestablishing their lives. Attached is a more detailed description of all of the items that come in a Shelterbox.
Our Rotary Club has undertaken a fundraising campaign to provide as many of these boxes as we can to the people of Haiti who are currently sleeping on the streets. The Rotary Shelterbox teams are already on the ground in Haiti, and boxes are being assembled and shipped from points around the world to Haiti.
Each Shelterbox costs $1,000 and we would ask you to consider making a contribution to assist our fundraising efforts. There are many worthwhile fundraising efforts underway, but we have chosen the Rotary Shelterbox program as our way of assisting the people of Haiti. We are asking everyone we know to consider making a donation, and to activate their friends and colleagues to do the same.
Our club will be setting up a Shelterbox Village in Maple Ridge's Memorial Peace Park next weekend - Friday, January 22 & Saturday, January 23 to demonstrate the effectiveness of providing this relief.
