Hey Bill, can you give us a hand. (The Good Ol' boys are at it again!)

A rusty ol pickup pulled up...and I kinda shuddered. I knew it was one of my neighbors. Great guys. will do anything for me if I just ask. For those of you who are not familiar...the 4 of these guys, buddies for years, IQ's are not as high as their belt size.

Bill, we kicked that big buck up and he ran across the field into old man Harry's woods. Harry said GO GET HIM! So, will you help us drive that woods. First of all, I have to give these guys credit. They are sportsman true and true...at least lately!

"Sure", I said. "How about 3:30 so I can finish my work."

DEAL!!! and off they were. WE met at the designated time. I volunteered to walk and one of the guys was put on point. "Stay Alert", I yelled, he will be coming out that left corner.

We headed through the woods. This walk will only take 15 min. and I wanted to see what kind of sign there was there anyway. About half ways through, the buck was up and running. I had no shot, and I yelled "HERE HE COMES!!!!" I waited for the shot, and waited, and waited...nothing. What the...

Well I finished the walk and low and behold, here was our point man...SLEEPING. Well, I had heard of this happening before to people. Some say, SHOOT and scare the bejeebers out of him. NO, I had a better idea. I told the rest of the guys, "I don't know where he is, I will talk to you guys tomorrow. I head home to finish out the evening hunt...with an extra gun!!! Yea, I took his gun and I left him sleep.

It's just after 8 and I just got off the phone with an excited neighbor. Someone had stolen his Gun. I could hardly believe it. "HOW", I asked him. After a bit of avoidance...he finally admitted he had fallen asleep. "Did you see anyone else out there?" "No", I said..."That's to bad". LOL

I will call him in the morning, about 5 am and tell him the good news.

The leaves are gone...there is no color left. OR...is there.

I have heard it a lot lately...the trees are bare and everything looks DEAD! I guess that is why I love getting out in amongst Mother Nature. You neve know what you will see. My excursions for hunting make me sit back and enjoy the nature around me and look at the beauty.

I was sitting on the ground the other evening, and when I looked over my shoulder...COLORED LEAVES!!!

I could see the spiderwebs and trails attached to all the small twigs and branches. But, there in the sun, one last shot of color for the fall.

Greens, reds, oranges rusts and a few other colors. Sure, there isn't a large tree with them on, but it's color just the same.

Some times it is the simple pleasures we need to take in.

My Grand Daughter's first hunt.

My family's no stranger to the outdoors. But, when I re-married I found that not to be true for my NEW family. Over the years many of them have come to love the outdoors and Nature as I do.

The key to introducing people to the outdoors is to go slow at first. Don't make the first time a survival of the fittest. I found that fishing ,something that they had done very limited, was something that we could build on. My wife even started to Deer Hunt.

Now it time to introduce the Grand Daughter to this outdoor activity. At 9 years, and a short attention span, we went out to the Deer Stand for just over a 1/2 hour. We didn't see any deer, but there were other wildlife sightings. She had fun and wants to go again. I did not burn her out the first time. Will she ever take up hunting...I don't know. That isn't the issue. It is exposing them to a new activity and let them decide what they like.

At 9 going on 16, she wouldn't look at the camera. She said that orange was not a good color for her. she has been spending to much time with Grandma!

I just learned a friend is getting Married...Does he know?...

Well, He is going to do it. Bob, a 48 yr. old confirmed bachelor is getting married. Now after going down that isle twice, (I love my wife by the way) Why would he go and ruin such a good thing?! I know, I know, I said that after my divorce I would never do that again, and look at me now, 10 years on the second go around.

But I am going to try and educate him before it's to late. Here is a list he needs to see...

Marriage is not a word...it's a sentence, a LIFE sentence!

Marriage is much like a violin...after the sweet music is done, the strings are still attached.

Marriage is an institution in which a man loses his Bachelor's Degree, and a women gets her Master's.

Marriage put's a ring on a woman's finger...and 2 under the man's eyes.

A Marriage Certificate is another word for WORK PERMIT!

Marriage is Love, Love is Blind, therefore...Marriage is an institution for the blind.

Marriage requires a man to prepare 4 types of rings...

Engagement ring, Wedding Ring, Suffering, and Enduring.

Good Luck Bob!!!

It's just after 3am...and my alarm still didn't go off...

No it's not Christmas or Easter. There is a great reward awaiting for me if I can only catch up to it. I have been really busy and have not had the time to prepare as I would like to have. Although, not much changes from year to year and I have been in the same place for the last 17 years.

Images are Dancing through my head...and sugar plums are not it. I am sure Dad is nearly awake also as we have not missed this day together since we started 39 years ago. Things are not the same as they were so many years ago as with Dad's age creeping up, but I would not miss this day with him for anything!

This Monarch survived last falls onslaught, but I have a good idea where we will meet this year. He is a crafty ol' bugger like his Grandfather and Great-Grandfather before him. The challange is just to see him...he will make some great table fare after that.

It's nearly 4 am and the Alarm will be going off any time now. Need to shut it off so as not to wake my Bride.

To All the Hunters out in the wild this year...PLEASE make it a safe one.
