My Ten reasons why you should fish.

I was having coffee today with an old acquaintance. conversation turned to hobbies. I told him I was into fishing. WHY! was his reply. I told him many reasons, one of which is the look on the face a child that has just caught their first fish. Or the look in my dad's eyes when I take my dad fishing. (He is confined to a wheel chair and paralyzed on one side)

So, I thought I would share my list with you.

1. Good fishing only happens in pretty places.

2. It gives me a chance to get out of the house early and buy CHOCOLATE!

3. I can do it with your kids, family or friends.

4. I can do it without your kids, family or friends.

5. I can get away from the TV, Stereo and phone.

6. On the other hand, I can take a phone with me and NO one has to know I am calling from my boat.

7. I can brag to my AR friends and not be looked down upon.

8.I spend a lot of time looking through neat magazines and catalogs.

9. Teddy Roosevelt and Calvin Coolidge both fished, as did Herbert Hoover, Jimmy Carter and George Bush and they all became President. But, I didn't

10. Just because it is fun!!!!!

One last round of golf...

Up here in the Nort land, many people are trying to get in one more round of golf. Most have put away the clubs of other interests...hunting for one. I have a brother who will go to the ends of the earth to get that last round in. I guess that is how I feel about my summer fishing and my fall hunting.

This Story says it all...

Fred got home extra late from his golf night. "Tough day at the course"? asked his wife.

"You can say that again...on the 10th hole, Bob had a heart attach. After that it was Hit the Ball, drag Bob, Hit the Ball, drag Bob.

Camp Fires...What is an outdoors adventure without one.

Minnesota Deer Hunting opener is this weekend as many people have heard about from my blogs. One of the best times of the event is the night time Campfires. It doesn't matter if your are hunting, fishing, camping or just relaxing ouside...

An example of a good camp fire is this one we had duing Fathers Day weekend this year. About 3 foot wide and 3-4 feet high so that you can feel the heat.

This weekend...the first one back to the house will be the one to start the fire for the rest of us to enjoy.

A camp fire is a close second place when it comes to weekend fun.

Minnesota Deer Hunters...Beware!

It is Deer hunting opener in Minnesota this weekend. Everyone in a hurry to get up north to the land, cabin or where ever. One catch...

ROAD CONSTRUCTION!!!! There is a repaving section being done at the interstate 35 and State hwy 95. Going north, jump off at Stacy and travel old 61 to Harris and then jump back on the freeway. You will save close to an hour if you do so.

The job is supposed to be done before the weekend..so I hear...but when was the last time one of these projects ever get done on time.

Safe Hunting and travel everyone!!!

The Amazing Race. Reality show or?!

My wife and I watch several of the Reality TV shows. We don't worry if we miss them, but we watch so little TV that Satalite and cable are not worth the cost. My wife had on 'The Amazing Race' and as I poked my head up from my Deer Hunting Magazine every now and again, A realization hit me.

We are all in an Amazing race. Look at your lives. We race to get the kids to practice, school or friends. We race to show a home or make the next appointment. We race all day long just to survive. That is what our society has become. ( and we are our own worst enemies).

Many people do not like the reality TV shows. BUT, in reality...we are all in An Amazing Race and it is REALITY!
