Wii...Wii

Yea...I mean the video Game! I thought my wife was out of her mind when she purchased one. Then I was surprised at how much fun we had the first couple of weeks.

Then she went and bought the Fitness game with the step board. We are both looking to tone up a bit and loose a few pounds, and thought this may be a way to do it while having fun. I fyou haven't tried it, but thinking about it...GO FOR IT! The program and board together keeps track of your fitness routine and talks to you kinda like a trainer. It know how much you weigh, how much you gain and loose and gives tips on what to do.

Now, when I have a few minutes here and there, and feel like just getting out of my chair for a few, I toss in the program and do a few short routines and WALLAH...it tells me...I gained another pound and i should try to control how much I eat....DAMN Game!LOL

Around this area, every Nursing facility has one of these games and the residents are getting their therapy using this realistic game. Low impact, and fun. The bowling is the most popular. some of the homes have leagues that have formed. They are keeping busy and are having less health problems.

Who would have thought a video game for kids would have been such a hit with the Seniors and other adults?!

Do You remember Grandma's Apron?

I Remember Grandma's apron...most of us with farm families do. If there ever was a utility 'tool', the Apron was it.

Now Days, I don't think our kids even know what an apron is.

The princepal reason for the apron, was to protect Grandma's dress underneath. Grandma only had a few dresses and aprons' were easier to wash and took less material to make!

Grandma's Apron was used as a...

Pot holder for taking hot stuff from the oven.

To dry a tear or two from the child that was hurting and on occasion, to clean a dirty ear.

From the Chicken coop, it was used to carry eggs, Fuzzy chicks and half hatched chicks to stay warm in the oven until they could push out of the egg!

When company came, the apron was an ideal place for a shy child to hide.

And when the cold north wind blew in a chill, Grandma would wrap her arms in it!

Those big aprons wiped many a perspiring brow when bent over a hot wood stove while cooking!

Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron.

From the garden it carried in Vegetables and after the peas were shelled it carried out the hulls.

In the fall, it was used to bring in the apples that had fallen from the trees.

When unexpected company drove up the road, it was suprising how much furniture that apron could dust in a matter of seconds!

When dinner was ready, Grandma would go to the paorch and wave her apron and the me in the fields new it was time to come in.

It will be a long time before anyone invents something so simple, but that served so many uses as the Apron.

Today...people would go crazy trying to figure out how many germs that apron carried, but I on't remember ever getting sick from that Apron.

Is It Snowing???

After dealing with a potential seller this morning, I had to ask him if it was snowing. He looked at me with a funny look, (the sun was shinning) and asked...

"Why"? I replied, "because you just gave me the biggest snowjob of the year!" I said.

First, he didn't have a new roof, the shingles were curled. The septic wasn't newer, the county said at least 15 years per thier records, and I could go on.

I try to find a little something out about the properties I go to potentialy list. Most good agents do this. So if you think I just fell off the Turnip Truck, your wrong, this bruise is on my head is from a minor discussion with my wife!

There was no way he would have gotten away with lying about the stuff he told me, I also will keep him out of court for giving false info to the buyers.

If you are looking to sell...be truthful or it could come back to haunt you!

Pet's and winter!

I know I blogged back in october or so about the need to take care of our pets in the cold climes. Well, I just happened not far from me. The families dogs (4) we under feed, not housed and nearly dead. How can you have a pet and not take care of them. It is a big resposiblity tham many should not have.

I am sure there are a lot more out there...including larger animals. Please, be kind! If you can't take care of them, find someone who can!

Not all animals are able to handle the elements like these guys!

Snow Shoveling Safety...

No, I am not going to tell you to watch for cars when clearing the end of the driveway of snow. Heart attach is the biggest killer from snow fall. Most of us are not in the shape we should be and try to do to much. we also do it wrong!

Many weight lifters know and other workout coaches know that lifting any heavy weight, you need to control your breath.

When shoveling snow, you normaly bend over a bit, take a deap breath, and then LIFT! WRONG! This puts undo pressure on the circulatory system, your heart for one.

The proper way is to put your shovel in the snow, and exhale as you are lifting. This takes the pressure off of heart and decreases the strain on your system. NOW, this may take a bit of practice, as it did for me, but, it is well worth the learning curve. I find that I am not as tired after shoveling using this breathng pattern. This is the suggestion of the medical community.

My friends in the south, this also applys to you for any and all other lifting. lifting and holding ones breath is very hard on the body. So, think before you lift and be here to Blog and Comment TOMORROW!!

Have a Happy and Safe New Year!
