You would think that the very people who constantly have to fight the "NIMBY" attitude at ever turn would get the message but I guess not. CBS News is reporting that DeKalb County officials are cutting everyones salaries but their own. Oh, and the unpaid holidays that everyone else now has, well, not them. End of rant.

It's always a good real estate market for somone. That someone right now is the investor with cash in the pocket. For the rest of us, it's wait for the job market to turn around (so that more people can afford to buy a home) and the government to get their tortuous little fingers out of the marketplace (one can still hope, right?). Here are the most recent numbers:
This is TOTAL volume of residential home sales in dollars across the entire county. Data from GAMLSpro.

Not the Atlanta Rhythm Section's song but the real thing. Doraville, Georgia home of a massive but closed GM assembly plant is going to get a potent and needed shot in the arm. The AJC article on converting the former site to a mixed used developement is giving a lot of hope to the area. After years of being chopped up by rapid rail lines and super highways, it's going to regain a little of that "country in the city" feel.
It's hard to know if anything is a trend these days but according to The Atlanta Business Chronicle the slide in home prices is slowing down. Quoting from the article, "The report shows the price of a home in the Atlanta market was down only 0.8 percent from October to November and down 6.2 percent year over year in November. Atlanta home prices were basically flat from September to October."

Just got this from the DeKalb Association of REALTORS. DeKalb CEO Ellis is hosting a series of meetings to hear from the public about the counties budge. Well known to all, there is a serious shortfall and cuts have to be made. Wisely, Ellis is seeking input from county citizens on what they feel must go and what must stay. It's a great opportunity to make your voice heard.
