The Vermont Department of Labor recently released its figures for the month of September 2011 which showed a drop of one tenth of 1 percent in the unemployment figures for our mighty little state. According to RealtyTrac, in the month of September Vermont had the lowest foreclosure rates of any state in the country. Our entire state had 17 foreclosures!! Chittenden County lead the way with 4 followed by Windham, Rutland and Franklin Counties with 3 each. There were new foreclosure filings for every 1 in every 18,485 housing units in Vermont in September. Compare that to Nevada 1 in every 118. Arizona had 1 in every 305. Florida had 1 in every 368 and New York had 4,202.
These numbers suggest Vermont was far from being entangled in the mortgage & foreclosure mess besieging many other states.
