Airdrie Regional Air Show went BOOM SWOOSH as the Snow Birds opened the show , from a spectators point of view it was awesome. The Airdrie Regional Air Show Society reported they regret that there were issues with traffic and apologize for any inconvenience. They pre-sold only 5000 tickets, so they were overwhelmed with the last-minute gate admissions. Regardless, the show was a great success and the benefactors, STARS Air Ambulance and the Airdrie Cadets are grateful for the financial support they have received through the air show. The great turn out shows there is a high demand for an air show in the area, so if there is another event in 2011, we will certainly be planning for ways to alleviate the traffic congestion.
The show was wrapped up by the filght and stunts of a CF-18 Jet WOW!

Calgary continues to grow at a steady pace, according to the 2009 Civic Census.
The population grew by another 22,563, bringing the total number of people living in the city to 1,065,455.
Ten communities had population increases of more than one thousand between April 2008 and April 2009 - Auburn Bay, Bridlewood, Cranston, Evergreen, New Brighton, Panorama Hills, Saddleridge, Silverado, Taradale and Tuscany.
The increase is similar to the pace of growth from April 2007 to April 2008 but significantly slower than during the height of the economic boom. In 2006, Calgary grew by roughly 30,000 people.
This year's census also shows Calgary's overall vacancy rate is more than 3 per cent, up from 2.2 per cent in April last year.

Walmart Canada will invest $115 million to build a state-of-art distribution centre in Balzac, Alberta just 10 minutes form Airdrie or Calgary. Among the largest refrigerated buildings in Canada, the centre will be 400,000 square feet in size and serve as a distribution hub for fresh food destined for Walmart stores in Western Canada. This will support the expansion of Walmart's modern Supercentre format, which adds a complete range of groceries to its traditional general merchandise selection, as well as its commitment to being a leader on environmental sustainability.
Walmart Canada has invested $220 million in the past year to modernize and expand its distribution
network. The network supplies 312 stores nationwide from eight distribution facilities: four sites in Calgary, Alberta, including Balzac; one site in Cornwall, Ontario; and three sites in Mississauga, including a newly opened 450,000-square-foot, refrigerated centre
that will be the model for the Balzac location. Walmart Canada's nationwide distribution activities employ more than 3,200 Canadians.
Construction of the Balzac distribution centre will begin immediately and will be conducted by Calgary-based development firm Stuart Olson. The distribution centre will open in late 2010 and will be operated by Canadian logistics firm Centric Retail Logistics. The Walmart-owned site is expected to generate approximately 1,400 jobs, including 800 trade and construction roles,
and 600 jobs once the distribution centre is fully operational.

The Natural Step will continue to provide training and coaching to the City of Airdrie as their municipal sustainability plan is developed.
