"Lake Effects" Fog

Fall provides some amazing scenes as the seasons change before our eyes. I took this picture in the Great Waters community at Lake Oconee on Friday, October 31st at 10:15 am. The fog resulting from a cool air mass over the warmer temperatures on the lake, held on in pockets until near noon. I always keep a camera close by to capture scenes like this. I have witnessed some thick fog in the US midwest and in Europe, but such events are routine. It is not so routine here.

305 N. Madison Ave.
Eatonton, GA 31024

Champagne toast immediately following the performance. Have a chance to meet the dancers and The Washington Ballet's Artistic Director, Septime Webre, one on one!

Come share the magic of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker, with all your childhood holiday memories of the Mouse King and the Sugar Plum Fairies. Enjoy the grace and beauty of Spanish dancer and choreographer Nacho Duato's Cor Perdut. Contrast this with the difficult and athletic work in Twyla Tharp's Baker's Dozen, where she instructs her dancers to be relaxed and loose-limbed while performing movements at very fast speeds. And see the sweeping motions of George Balanchine's Rubies All of this will take place on the stage of The Plaza Arts Center, an intimate, beautifully restored theater with limited seating, bringing you even closer to the enchantment onstage.

Ready for the Time Change?

Post Sunset View in Lake Country, Georgia

There's nothing more depressing to me than thinking about having to adjust clocks this coming weekend. I took this picture at home as I pulled into my driveway at 6:45 PM. The sun had just set over the horizon. Next week I can expect the same view an hour earlier. I understand the arguments for adjusting time to have sunrise earlier during the late fall and winter months. Earlier daylight accommodates kids waiting for buses in the morning, etc. However, with the adjustment of time changes to a week later in the fall and a week earlier in late winter, it hardly seems worth the effort. I guess we'll be showing more houses after dark for a while.

REMINDER: Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 2:00:00 AM clocks are turned backward 1 hour to
1:00:00 AM local standard time. Sleep in for an extra hour.
