Traveling to Southern California on Highway 101 towards Santa Barbara takes you to a cut off to a city called Solvang. A Danish hamlet located a few miles off 101 before Santa Barbara, and what a treat do you have in store!
Don't plan on spending a few hours, consider a few days!

At the end of town is the old Mission Santa Ines that was founded on 1804.

It has endured through a long and varied history to still serve the community today.

The Mission is open to the public, and has a museum and gift shop.

You even have the ability to walk through the old graveyards.

If you plan on going, don't forget to bring your camera and a good pair of shoes to look at everything!

I am spending the weekend in Sunny Solvang, CA. It is a Danish community in Southern California about 30 or so minutes north of Santa Barbara. After a long day taking in the sights, eating the food and exploring with my son we headed back to our room, exhausted!
I looked out the window and saw an amazing sky! Now my camera is not the best as most of you know I broke my old camera...

I hope to post more pictures of the trip in the next day or so!

What a great time at the Cupertino Tournament of Bands on Saturday night (October 8th, 2011). The annual event is hosted by Cupertino High School.
You have to excuse my pictures, as I broke my camera and was using a loner type. :) We all brought jackets, food, blankets and really enjoyed the 4 1/2 hours of feild shows by local favorites!

The event drew dozens of bands from around the bay area, and towards the end of the evening the stands were PACKED!

My Alma Mater was in the house! Cupertino High School, the Host Band was on display too!

Saratoga High School was one of the larger bands.

Homestead High School was/is one of our bands local to Cupertino and is one of 10 bands nationally picked to be in the Rose Parade this year. And of course, they stole the show!

I tried to snap a picture of the awards that were to be given out that night. Again, my camera was a small digital while I wait to replace my awesome camera that I kinda... broke...

Every year, my son and I go to get pumpkins in Half Moon Bay, CA. I have been heading over there ever since I was a kid. Even though it is bigger and has far more people than back in the day, it is still an amazing place to go!

It had just rained a few days earlier, so we put on our boots. Me with my hikers and my son with his fireman boots!

My son is so used to me having to take a ton of pictures, so now he just hams it up and takes as many pictures as I want. This one came out great!
Happy Halloween to you!

I spent the morning in Half Moon Bay at Pastorino's and Lemos Farms... You have to go early at this time of year, as the crowds get pretty big later in the day.

This first picture was from Pastorino's farms. I have been getting pumpkins at this patch for over 35 years!

And this one is from Lemo's Farms. Both of these patches are right across the street from one another. Pony rides, bounce houses, haunted houses, train rides, hay rides and Halloween spirit. Oh yea, and pumpkin pie!
