The first Monster Jam of the year was in Houston at the Reliant Center last Saturday! My husband, son, myself and a friend went and it was an amazing show!
Houston brings some of the biggest names in the business. Saturday night some of the names and trucks were there; Dennis Anderson w/ Grave Digger, Daron Basl w/ Fiesta El Matador, David Smith w/King Krunch, Tom Meents w/Maximum Distruction, Adam Anderson w/TAZ, Jimmie Creten w/ Bounty Hunter, Scott Hartsock w/Gunslinger, John Seacock w/Batman, Christensen w/Iron Outlaw, the Air Force Truck was there- I can't remember the driver.
The Reliant Center had standing room only with over 60,000 fans. The freestyle was wild from the very beginning and the judges were tough. Daron Basl had a great freestyle with a score of 19 and finished in 4th place. Grave Digger was awesome as usual with a score of 26. Tom Meents with Maximum Distruction was the last competitor and he went ballistic (as usual) He lost a wheel and tire and kept on going until MAX-D could absolutely go no more. He scored a 26, tying with Dennis Anderson w/Grave Digger. The Trophy presentation was to be given to both winners, but Dennis Anderson refused to accept his share of the win, saying the judges got it wrong and Meents w/MAX-D deserved the win. (and rightfully so) Dennis Anderson said, "This one is yours, the next one will be mine!"
I have seen many of the Monster Jam live in Houston as well as on the speed channel, and Tom Meents was unbelievable! I got interested when I sold to Aaron & Daron a few years back. They are two of the nicest guys I have ever met.
We are especially proud of Aaron & Daron Basl, David Smith, & Pablo, from Spring, TX. They travel all over the county and are some of the best.
They will be back in Houston again January 19, 2008 and February 2, 2008. I am sure we will be attending one of these events.
