The Nature Center of Cape May will be hosting the annual Harbor Safari again this weekend.

Harbor Safari will be this Saturday, May 14th, 2011 starting at 11am.
Take a ride through Cape May Harbor to see up close what is alive in our coastal waters. You will be sure to see horseshoe crabs, marsh grasses and our native shore birds. During this time of year, I am sure you will also see many of the migrating birds that make their bi-annual stop in Cape May. Coincidentally, this even coincides with the World Series of Birding annual event.
There will be a marine biologist from the Nature Center of Cape May as your guide. He will be there to explain what our unique habitat is composed of and why it is so important to keep our ocean waters clean and healthy.
Tickets are available at the Washington Street Mall Information Booth and the Nature Center of Cape May.
The Nature Center of Cape May is located at 1600 Delaware Avenue in Cape May. Or call 609-898-8848.
The cost of admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12.

Cape May Point was founded in the 1800's and is located below South Cape May. You would never know that South Cape May existed since it is now underwater. That is another story. Presently, I think you would consider it south of The Cove.
If you are interested in coming to Cape May Point, there is a fabulous museum and Lighthouse that gives the rich and detailed history of the Point. You are able to walk up the Lighthouse to the top. It is breathtaking once you get there.

This is the view from the beach of the Lighthouse.
A photo of the museum....
The musuem has examples of the types of things you would find on the beach. There are razor clams, mermaid purses, and seahorses, to name a few. They also go into detail about the migration of the Monarch butterfly.
If you are on the beach, you may be able to see just what comes out of our oceans if people are fishing.

This is a sand shark.
If you are coming to Cape May Point, I would recommend stopping by and taking one of their tours to learn about what makes our ecosystem so special.
The Cape May Music Festival is in 2 days and it is sure to be 3 weeks of lively entertainment. The Festival has been happening year after year for the past 20 years. The dates for this years festival is May 20-June 10th.
The kickoff time to this event is 8pm on Thursday. The group that will be playing is a traditional Irish band with Kevin Burke and Cal Scott. Please come out to hear this original group perform at the Star of the Sea Church on Washington St.
