BEFORE AFTER
Well some of you may know of my puple house transformation!
Here finally is the second guest bedroom. Essentially this space is rarely used and since I did not want to redecorate again when we decide to move I’ve decided to “Stage to Live”. I took all of my staging principles and applied them to this room so when it comes time to sell I’m A-OK! I’m sure with time my own storage items will creep its way into this space so it’s a good thing I’m a professional stager!
The room was decorated by the previous home owners (now you can really see why this house was on the market for 6 months!!) The wall paper, older décor & really scary dolls everywhere (probably only an issue to myself because of watching the movie CHUCKY!) anyways my first task at hand was to remove the wallpaper and lucky me there was layers and layers and layers of it going on and on! Which took about 2-3 weeks for us to just remove then we had 1 more week to fix the holes in the wall that we made by using putty applicators as scrapers. Thanks to my best friend Mela & my mother the majority of this annoying job was done by them! (THANK YOU!!! Now you may stay for free, you’ve earned your keep!)
Once the wallpaper was down and the wall fixed from our hole making I decided to paint the majority of this room a “Antique Linen” colour and the back wall by the window a “Seal Gray” my accent colour is the bright red in the fitted bed sheets as well as art & accessories you can not see in this picture.
Considering this space took a good portion of 2 months for me to finish (business comes first!) I am very excited and happy that it is completed.
Stay tuned for more “Purple House Transformation” we still have the Kitchen & eating nook, Sititng Room, Office, Master bedroom, to show you!

Capital Home Staging & Design
Putting capital back into your home.

Today has been quite a day I am pleased to say!
I have received about 10 phone calls many of them interested in our staging services and booking appointments. I did have a “New” agent call me (one I have not worked with before) and start to ask me questions about my company, packges, pricing, and more. Once I finished answering all of his questions I asked him “May I ask how you have heard of us?” and he replied “I asked a bunch of agents that I knew and I also checked out your web page and liked the presentation and you seem to be the –Go To- Company for Home Staging in Ottawa”
FABULOUS! That is our goal, to be Ottawa’s go-to company for home staging for all realtors & home owners alike!
Capital Home Staging & Design builds long lasting relationships with our clients built on strong staging products and our outstanding customer service.
If you are spending good marketing dollars on your properties (and if your listing them you are) then you and your clients need to experience Capital Home Staging & Design where we can help you earn back your staging investment ten fold!

Natasha, Myself, & Roy
The only home staging company in Ottawa to have won this award.
Because this is the end of the year and did not have a chance to blog about it before i'm taking the opportunity to do so now. The Summer of 09 my company was nominated by my clients and business affiliates for the BBB Torch Award. When I recieved the call that I was nominated they requested that I submit a binder consisiting of my business outline, how i would handle an issue, how i contribute to the community, how i keep my employees happy, what my values are with in the company and how I uphold to them as well as samples of my marketing strategy. This took me one whole month to pull together and assemble in a bright green eye catching 3 ringed binder. I took great pride in pulling together this presentation book because even if i didnt win I was proud of what I have done with in my own company in such a short period of time.
In October my company was invited to attend the BBB (Better Business Bureau) Awards dinner, we were notified that we were a finalist for this award. I was (and still am) extatic to have been nominated and even more so that i'm now a finalist for this award. For the awards ceremony I brought everyone, my mom, dad, brother, my husband Eric and my first employee Natasha. We took up the whole table! LOL Everyone else just brought a date but I didnt care what happened that night I wanted to share it with everyone that ment so much to me because with out them and their support I couldnt of made it this far!
So we all sat at the table enjoying the delicious dinner when the announcements started, they called up the 2 runners up for the award and as soon as they said "let's now move on to the winners of the Torch award" I instantly knew that I had won! I started to get sooo excited internally, my face was red, I was bouncing in my seat and my husband & Natasha asked me what's up! I told them to just wait!! i didnt want to officially say anything because I wasnt 100% sure but 99% since they are moving onto the winners! "Now, starting with the small business category" the announcer said. "The winner for the BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics in the small business categoyr is...................................Capital Home Staging & Design!"
I thought I was about to die with joy! I jumped up and started to see the crowed as a sea of black bobbling & clapping heads I didnt know what I was looking at just the sight of the podium and the Cheif of the BBB in Ottawa waiting to greet me. I was so nervous that I was going to fall off the podium or trip up or down the stairs in my new red shoes! I think i was even shaking like a leaf! I accepted the award and made it back to the table in one piece! my family was there and they were soooo excited I was a great feeling for me to see them so proud of me!
At the end of the night I requested to take a group photo of the main people involved in the business. Natasha is my first employee and she has been there helping from the start. I also asked my father Roy to be in the photo because with out him I wouldnt be as far as I am today. He's my accountant, my web master, my PR guru, my confidant, my ideas guy, and my Videographer for my DIY home staging video. You name it he helps me with suggestions, listenes to my ideas and provides support and tells me when i'm crazy!!
My dad told me 45 years ago THAT DAY was the worst day of his life!.....his dad passed away and now this date is the BEST day of his life. He said it's so weird how things turn like that from having this date as a bad and sad memory to changing to to a happy and joyful one! When he told me that I was so surprised! I had no idea, I never met my gradfather and my dad bairly knew him since he passed when he was a child so for this day to take on a new meaning to my dad really means a lot to me! I AM SO proud and happy that this day in October is now a good memory!
Thanks for reading & here's to 2010

Well, This coming weekend (May 1,2,3) is Capital Home Staging & Design's FIRST tradeshow event! Sooo many things are running though my head do i have all my pamplets & post cards, will my decor be as planed or will i have a pre show emergency?
Even though there are many factors that are scary.....not being apart of the event is even more scary! I am extremely excited to meet local people and other local businesses. I am apart of about 3 business networking goups and this seems to be like a ginormous group for all to see! I have only been to the ottawa home and garden show never the ottawa women's show. I'm sure the event will be similar but with the main main attendies being women.
So. i've got my booth location, my plan that i've drawn out about a billion times, my inventory waiting nicely in boxes at my door and even my 3 different outfits i'll be wearing. Growing up as a girl guide having the motto "BE PREPARED" burned into my mind has served me well though out life i'm sure it will serve me just as well for this event!
So if your in the Ottawa Area we would LOVE to see you there!
