Lake Nona Lions Update

FRESHMAN HOME GAME TONIGHT AT 6:00...COME OUT AND SUPPORT THE LIONS!!

Welcome to two new members of our Quarterback Club:

Carmen I. Sierra-Gonzales and Danielle Ketterle!!

We had a very productive meeting with the Quarterback Club last evening:

Here is a recap-

We have done very well selling ads for the program. We sold about 50 programs at the game and 39 hats/visors.

We are going to order ties for the varsity boys to wear on game days. This will cost just under $800.00. Our suggestion is for the boys to wear their own white shirts and khaki pants and we'll provide the ties as a gift from the Quarterback Club. They'll look very professional. We are still working toward blazers, but do not have the funds to purchase blazers and do some of the other things we need to do at this time.

We have learned that there are no concessions set up for the freshman games, so we are delighted to have the opportunity to serve our freshman players in this way. Ryan Powell will head up this effort. Assisting Ryan will be Lonna, Chip, Carrie and Yvonne. Ryan already has hamburgers and hot dogs for this Wednesday's game. Diane will be purchasing drinks, foil, candy and chips.

Friday is an away game (University). The Quarterback Club is providing the food for this game...Diane Clarke is cooking pulled pork sandwiches and potato salad for the boys. Carrie Fisher will not be there this Friday, so we may need one more volunteer to help serve.

We still need restaurants or other organizations to provide food for the following games:

9/25 Away at Sebring- maybe boxed/bagged dinners as the boys will need to hop on the bus right away

10/2 Away at Lake Wales- boxed/bagged dinners

10/9 Away at Auburndale-boxed/bagged dinners

10/16 Home- Tijuana Flats is providing foord

10/30- Home

11/6- Home

11/13 Home

We are approaching Publix and a few other restaurants for help. Go Church has offered to provide food for one game, we just don't have a date nailed down yet.

We will be selling our current programs at the freshman games as well as varsity. Chip is printing a sticker to put on the cover for this week's game. The freshman roster and picture of the players is in the program. We have changed our price to $3.00 for our programs. It is our hope that with the more affordable price, more families can enjoy the programs. We are still selling parent ads, but want to sell off more of our current programs before reprinting.

We are planning to order Lions magnets and temporary tattoos to sell at the games in addition to the remaining hats.

Carrie Fisher is meeting with the Rosen Center to determine the costs to have our football banquet there. Once she has this information, we'll determine a budget and start planning.

Remember to patronize Larry's Subs this Thursday as a thank you for providing the food for the boys last week. They are very eager to serve our families...so please feed your family at Larry's Thursday!

For home games, we will be alternating our after game celebration between Sweet Mama's and Tijuana Flats. The dates are as follows:

10/16- Sweet Mamas

10/30- Tijuana Flats

11/6- Sweet Mamas

11/13- Tijuana Flats

While we recognize we cannot force anyone to eat anywhere, we would like to encourage patronage at these businesses in appreciation for everything they've done to support the Lions.

We need Volunteers for the following tasks:

Set up tables and merchandise for home games

Sell programs, and merchandise for home games

Sell t-shirts for the athletic department at home games

We may need a few more tables (I have one I can bring)

Break down after the home games.

Serving food to players for all games

Purchasing various items (papergoods, etc.)

Our next Quarterback Club meeting will be Thursday Sept. 24th 6:30 pm- at Carey's house in North Shore.

Warmly,

Carey Light
