Lake Nona Middle School

Odyssey Middle School is currently serving the needs of middle schoolers in the Lake Nona area with excellence. However, it is very over crowded. You may have seen in my previous posts that plans were underway to build a new middle school campus near Eagle Creek in Lake Nona to relieve Odyssey Middle. However, the construction on the new middle school campus has been delayed and is now planned to open in 2011. In the meantime, a new middle school will open directly on the Lake Nona High School campus this fall. It will be under the expert leadership of Dr. Rob Anderson, principal of Lake Nona High School. Opening on the high school campus will actually provide both schools with increased opportunities for student achievement and experience. The new middle school will have it's own building and steps are being taken to ensure student safety and security.

For more information, check out the Orange County Public School's website at www.ocps.net

Search "Lake Nona High School" for a principal update and view of the zone map for the high school. The zoning for the middle school is scheduled for approval Feb. 10, but is expected to closely resemble that of the high school.

Students must live in the school zone to attend these new model schools. Contact Carey Light for news and information on Lake Nona Real Estate.

Rob Anderson, Principal of Lake Nona High

Wow! My husband and I had the absolute pleasure and privilege of meeting with the new principal of Lake Nona High, Dr. Rob Anderson. He knocked our socks off!

Lake Nona High School is the official name of the school. The mascot is the Lions and their colors are dark blue and silver. Check out the school seal on the Orange County Website (click the link at the bottom of the message).

My family has been involved in the private school community since my children were in kindergarten. It has been a wonderful community and every penny spent there has been well worth it. In consideration of a move to a public school setting, my husband and I had numerous questions and concerns. We were pleased to find that Rob Anderson was willing and able to meet with us.

The vision for Lake Nona High School is brilliant...it will likely be the premier High School in Central Florida, rolling out new education models based on research and past student successes. But don't take it from me...you owe it to your children to find out for yourself. Dr. Anderson welcomes the opportunity to meet with parents...give him a call or email. Additionally, he is planning several community meetings in the coming months. Stay tuned for more information!

To see pictures of the school under construction, read the principal's update and learn more about Lake Nona High, visit the website at https://www.ocps.net/lc/southeast/ccohsrelief/Pages/default.aspx (you may have to type the link into your browser.)

Additionally, while most of the administrative team is in place, interviews are still underway for teaching positions.

If you need to buy a home in the area so your children will have the opportunity of a lifetime to attend a fabulous school...give me a call. I will be happy to answer any questions you have about the area and delighted to serve your real estate needs....Carey Light...321-297-4330. (I love helping teachers, too!)

Nona Sushi- YUM!

Have you ever noticed that things come in threes? This seems to be especially true in Lake Nona. Three banks, three sub shops, three sushi restaurants...

I finally made it to the newest sushi place yesterday for lunch...Nona Sushi. What a delight! A nice upscale dining experience with excellent, personalized service. Our sweet server was very concerned about our enjoyment of our meals.

I had the bento box with the garlic chicken- very spicy! My only disappointment was that I didn't get a full order of the crunch rolls. I tried one of my husband's and it was super yummo....but he wouldn't share anymore. :(

The ingredients were fresh and beautifully prepared. This restaurant has beat the other area sushi restaurants hands down!

Nona Sushi is located at 10743 Narcoossee Rd in the new plaza just south of the Publix plaza. Dining in is a very pleasant experience, but you can reach the restaurant at 407-381-7777 if you prefer take out.

Give it a try!

Retail and Office Space for Lease in Lake Nona

I have had requests for information on retail and office space in the Lake Nona area. There is very little commercial space for sale in Lake Nona, with the exception of a nice parcel off Narcoossee Rd. bordering Lake Whipporwhill offered at $7,000,000 (call 321.297.4330 for more information if interested in this property...)

For Lease:

La Vina is currently under construction. It is located close to the 528 toll road off Narcoossee Rd. This complex has two large two story structures with numerous bays for retail and office space. I have new information regarding the businesses that have already signed leases...call me for details!

Nona Park will have two complexes. Land is currently being cleared for the Northernmost complex and construction will commence soon. Note- there will be a ten foot barrier wall separating this commercial and professional complex from the residential homes in North Lake Park. Additionally, there will be a significant wooded buffer zone of trees.

East Park Village is under construction as well. It is located off Moss Park Road next to what will be the new 417 interchange. Check it out on the web at www.PinnacleOrlando.com

I hope you find this information helpful. If you have any questions about Lake Nona, please do not hesitate to call or email. And if you have a real estate need, or know someone who does, I hope you will think of Carey Light.
