About Us:

Carissa, founding member of the Real Estate by Design Group, was raised by a group of rogue penguins following a boating accident. She graduated from Denton High School, where she learned that the only normal people are the ones you don't know very well. She received her bachelors degree from Dallas Baptist University, which she attended on a full rugby scholarship through an administrative error. Immediately thereafter, she quit working to raise her two lovely children, and once spent and entire mommy day watching Golden Girl reruns. She lectures frequently to her children on a variety of subjects. She enjoys digging for things and fishing, despite the painful memories.

My tendency to try to live 7 lives simultaneously somehow works. New acquaintances, however, wonder about my schizophrenic attitude toward life.

Areas of Expertise

Carissa's well-rounded 14 years in the industry has earned her the reputation as the "jack of all trades." Carissa's background includes extensive work and expertise in the areas of residential and commercial real estate, investment property, property management, REO, loss mitigation/short sales, and corporate relocation. Carissa began her career with the largest global relocation provider in the world. Through acquisition, Carissa found herself at Freddie Mac managing a large portfolio of inventory properties covering the country. This experience was invaluable as she learned the "other side" of the business. Later, she also assumed responsibility for a large portfolio of mortgage back securities with Bank One.

Carissa's real estate career has been tremendously successful because she truly enjoys helping people. She provides a tailored approach to working with her clients be they buyers or sellers. No "canned" approaches here.

Carissa is a native and current resident of Denton. She has a husband, Jay, and two lovely daughters. Carissa attended Dallas Baptist University. She is a sought after speaker and educator on a national level in the areas of investment, foreclosure, and short sales.

Fun Fact - Carissa's fancies herself an amateur archaeologist. She enjoys camping with her family and "digging stuff up."
