Marlborough Steak Dinner

A Steak dinner served at the Marlborough Moose Lodge and Family Center put together by the Women of the Moose, will be held, Saturday, July 26 from 5-7pm at 303 South Main St, Marlborough, CT. The steak will be served with a potato, veggie, salad and dessert and you may also choose to have sauteed mushrooms and onions with your steak. For more information and cost, call the lodge at 295-9155. The lodge is planning to have a dinner and a breakfast at least once a month.

Hebron Walkers Wanted

Hebron resident Elyse Plude is looking for people from all the Rivereast towns to participate in the American Diabetes Association's Step Out and Walk to Fight Diabetes. The walk will take place Sat Oct 4 at Lake Compounds in Bristol, CT. This annual walk is a non competitive event to raise funds for the American Diabetes Association, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes and improving the lives of all people affected by the disease. Participants can receive a free pass to all open rides at the park and a ticket to the "Haunted Graveyard" attraction (good for that night only). For the 1st time ever, the walk will be in the evening, starting at 5pm. Participants can join Plude's team or start their own. East Hampton Bottle Drive

Boy Scout Troop 57 will conduct a bottle drive Sat July 19 from 9am-noon, in the parking lot of American Distilling & Manufacturing Company, Inc., 31 East High St, East Hampton, CT (Rt 66), next door to Island Coffee Traders (the former Donut Depot). The Boy Scouts remind everyone that all bottles should be rinsed and that non-carbonated water and juice (such as Snapple) cans and bottles are not redeemable and should be recycled at home. Call 267-2962 to arrange for bottle pick up or for more information. Troop 57 is charted by the East Hampton Congregational Church and thanks everyone for their support.

Colchester Traveling Artists' Series

Indigo Lily Co. in Colchester, CT is hosting a summer long Traveling Artits' Series. Every sat & Sun through the end of July, people can meet the local artisans whose work is featured in the shop, ask questions and even participate during some events. There will be jewelers, potters, a book signing, photography, painters, garden art sculptors, greeting card makers and more. East Hampton Hot Dog Eating Contest

The 1st Annual Hot Dog eating Contest, to benefit the East Hampton Food and Fuel bank, will be held Sat Aug 2 at Angelico's Lake House Restaurant, 81 North Main St, East Hampton, CT. There will be contests for Heavy Weight category, Democrats vs. Republicans and a kids category. The event will also feature a "Super Auction", conducted by Red McKinny. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the east Hampton Food and Fuel bank. Auction items include Yankees tickets, 100 gallons of oil, sunset cruises around the Lake, dinner for four and other items. The Dave Mac Reggae Band will provide the entertainment.
