Florida is not my birthplace, nor is the US of A! I grew up in Canada and although I will always love her, I have found Florida to rank #1 as my 2nd homeplace!
Having the choice to live virtually anywhere, I'm thrilled to live in Florida for the obvious reasons. The weather ranks tops on the list! Another ranking to be proud of is Florida's quality in education. Ranking 11th in te nation for policies and performance is just another feather in her cap!
St. Augustine, FL is ranked tops in education in all of Florida. Not bad considering the recent kudos St. Augustine has received from National Geographic for one of the top 10 cities in the world to experience the magic of Christmas! As the oldest city in the nation, St. Augustine is preparing for her 450th birthday, which will be celebrated in 2015!
TripAdvisor has ranked St. Augustine as one of the top vacation destinations and Smart Money magazine had named St. Augustine, FL as one of the top areas to retire in.
All the leg work has been done for you! Call me when you've made your mind to relocate to one of the prettiest, oldest and dog-friendly cities in the USA!
Nestled between Jacksonville and Daytona and still one of the last reasonably priced beach jewels, I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful community! St. Augustine became my home in 1998 and she has continued to evolve from her conception in 1565. The city's rich history and cultural diversity have helped shape this dynamic town for both residents and visitors alike.
I was pleased to learn that St. Augustine was just named one of the top 10 "US Destinations on the Rise" as named by the well respected company, TripAdvisor! This honor is coming in on the heels of National Geographic's "Top 10 Cities in the World" to enjoy the enchantment of Christmas Lights.
St. Augustine holds the rank of #1 in schools for all of Florida and ranks among the safest! Top 10 in the US for being "Dog Friendly" and one of the top destinations for retirees.
There's nothing else that would amazing me! I just needed to blow St. Augustines horn!
Before you do anything, start packing! You will have to do this anyhow, when the house sells, so get a jump on it before you even call a REALTOR to discuss listing it. Pack away the family photos, the chachka's that you've been collecting for the last 25 years and remove anything that might be a distraction to a potential buyer. You want them to be able to visualize their furnishings in your home by staying focused on the rooms not what's in it!
You may have an older home and have not updated it throughout the years. If you don't have the funds to replace faucets or update appliances, the next best thing you can do to get more money for your home is almost virtually free! The house needs to sparkle, old or new, and smell good, too! Scrub the baseboards, wash the windows, tidy up the closets, remove excess furniture, dust the fans, clean the vents. You get my drift! Your home is competing with model homes and must be looking its best, both inside and out! Your REALTOR should be able to make suggestions on items you may have missed after you list it.
Where you price your home, initially, is most important. Pay close attention to what your current market value is. Your REALTOR will go over the comparables with you to get a price range and determine a marketing plan for you to get your home sold. Price it right, and stay focused on where you want to be after the home sells and you should be well on your way to new destination!
When you have acquired a contract, your REALTOR will assist you in finding your next home and keep you on track to a successful closing! Good luck...
The weather is cool and that brings with it the excitement of St. Augustine's Nights of Lights festival! Something that I look forward to attending several times throughout the holiday season!
Just named again in the AAA Travel Views "12 Favorite Places to Catch the Holiday Spirit in the USA and Canada" and American Bus Association named it one of the nation's to 100 events for the 3rd time!
You'll revel in the millions of illuminaries that outline the quaint old cities skyline. Hundreds of folks gather in the square, downtown, and enjoy the music that fills the air as our Mayor conducts the countdown to the lighting of the town. This will continue to glow for 2 months starting November 19th until the end of January 2012.
With our average winter temperature of 68 degrees during our sun drenched days, during the winter, don't be surprised if you feel the
bite of freezing nights that linger around 32 degrees. You can ride the train trolleys that dub themselves the Holly Jolly Trolley during the season, and enjoy viewing the lights through 3D glasses, singing Christmas Carols with stopovers for hot apple cider and cookies at different locations. Maybe your style would be to enjoy the clip clop through the old streets of St. Augustine on a horse drawn carriage while bundled up under the blankets provided! If you can detect excitement in me, you're right! This is my favorite time of the year in St. Augustine, FL!
If you want to go back to the good ol' days, you'll enjoy this time of year which is reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell painting! You'll enjoy the sound of the church bells as they ring. Sometimes it's just nice to go back to when the holidays were magically & simple...
