While many real estate professionals are hearing that Facebook is the place to be, they are torn about actually using Facebook. Many feel that it is quite personal and do they really want their client reading a post by their 21 year-old cousin (who we will call Josh) who is also a "friend" of theirs on Facebook. This is actually the power of Facebook, because guess what, that 21 year-old cousin Josh has Facebook friends that may be looking to purchase their first home and bam, you are right there on Josh's Facebook and you're an agent. So hopefully, they ask Josh about you and he "introduces" you and now you've got a new buyer. This is why, some Real Estate Agents will put up with the possibility that some of their Facebook friends will post things that they wouldn't otherwise want their clients to see, in order to take advantage of this powerful social networking site.

Many professionals enjoy the personal side of Facebook so much so that they do not want to "mix business with pleasure". With that said, there is STILL a way they can take advantage of Facebook and profile their company.

I'm talking about Facebook Pages. A Facebook Page is a customizable presence for an organization, company, product, or public personality to join the conversation with Facebook users. By leveraging the real connections between friends on Facebook, a Page lets Fans become brand advocates. Posts by the Page will start to appear in News Feeds, giving Pages a stronger voice to reach their Fans. In addition, Pages now has a new look and feel more similar to actual user profiles. The best part is that if you as the "owner" of the business profile does not become a fan of the page, there is no way for anyone to see your personal profile. So, you could in a sense, keep the two seperate.

What goes up, must come down.

The good news is that what is down, will always go up. This is kind of like "is the glass half full or half empty". How do you choose to see it?

It is rough out there for everyone, but what I refuse to do is jump on the pity party bus. We all knew this would happen (maybe not this severe). We all knew we should plan for this day when things are not as hot as they were 3 years ago. Perhaps if nothing else, we learn from this experience and when this market is stable we will plan, save and re-invest in our business.

What I do know is that we are all working twice as hard for half as much. Now we can sit back and say, this stinks, or we can take the bull by the horns and say, YES, I will work twice as hard. I will prevail. Know that when you prevail you will be stronger than ever.

In my industry (Real Estate Virtual Assistant or REVA), I feel this market is slimming out those of us that are in this as a business and not a hobby. Therefore, RealSupport will prevail, this is a good thing for us! More agents will come to us because we mean business. I think the real estate professional should look at it the same way. This market correction, in ONE way, could be a good thing. It is going to weed out all those agents that got in to real estate to make a quick buck on the side. Those days are long gone, and those agents are long gone because when it comes down to it, they were not willing to work twice as hard for half as much. You are. You will. And you will prevail.
