If it is or maybe you are not sure just what "Carolina beach music is but you are moving to Cary, NC, beach music is one of the great local music generes you must become familiar with. Beach music originated in the beach clubs of North and South Carolina and it is a combination of soulful sounds mixed with blues and pop music to produce a unique blend that is defined as Carolina Beach Music. And a great way to become educated in this unique flavor of coastal Carolina music is to come out to the Kooka Booth Amphitheatre at Regency Park in Cary for the free Labor Day Weekend Pops in the Park Concert celebration on Sunday, August 31.

Accompanied by the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra, Cary residents and local Triangle area neighbors
will be feasting on the classic beach music sounds of the Legends of Beach. This talented group features former members of the Raleigh-based beach music group The Embers and includes singer-song writters Jackie Gore and Johnny Barker, who penned the hits “I Love Beach Music” and “Summertime’s Calling Me,” respectively. For a great, fun-filled family event, be sure to join us at the Kooka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary's Regency Park for this awesome Labor Day weekend event, Sunday, August 31st. Gates open at 4:30pm.

When rare events of human loss and violence occur in our tight-knit community of Cary, NC, our neighbors really know how to show their true colors. The Cary community spirit unites our citizens together to support one another in marvelous ways with randome acts of kindness and support in the rare times like these. While our city is one of the safest cities in the state of North Carolina, we are not immune to tragic events.
Last week a local Cary resident was murdered near one of our more popular Cary neighborhoods while she was out for a morning jog. The Police Chief of Cary stated shortly after the investigation began that this event was an "isolated incident" and not some random act of violence. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family members who are dealing with this tragedy
My purpose for writing this post is not to focus on this horrible act but to shine the spotlight on the incredible outpouring of love, compassion and support this community has the capacity to convey. While we all wish we lived in a bubble shielded from the realities of violence and human tragedy, we can take some semblance of solace knowing when bad things happen, the residents of Cary are at the ready to step in to provide a sensitive shoulder of support.
As I stated eariler, our hearts and prayers go out to the Rentz/Cooper family. The family held a public memorial service on Saturday July 19th at Koka Booth Amphitheatre at Regency Park in Cary.
Please continue hold this dear family in your thoughts and prayers.
Until my next post,
Lenda
