I think it was their lucky day...
Lincoln Park has a small craft airport on Jacksonville Road. There was an incident there on Sunday. Well, I guess incident really doesn't describe it. It was a plane wreck.
According to the press release from the Lincoln Park Police Department, at about 11:40 a.m. on March 2nd, a student pilot was attempting to land a Cessna Model 172S aircraft at the Lincoln Park Airport. He lost control. The plane struck a fence at the end of the runway, flipped over, and split in half. It ended up on Jacksonville Road (no motorists were injured.) The pilot and the instructor were found upside down in the plane secured in their harnesses. The pilot, a local man from Pompton Plains, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The instructor refused medical attention....he just walked away. Now, I don't consider losing control of a plane lucky, but when your plane crashes through a fence, flips upside down, and then splits in half, and you walk away..that is lucky!

I thought that now that Lincoln Park is the 5th best place to live in New Jersey, as ranked by New Jersey Monthly Magazine, many buyers may want to know more information about the different neighborhoods to be found in this great town. I decided to first concentrate on Woodland Hills, the condominium complex where I live, because who knows it better?
Woodland Hills is a condominium complex located in Lincoln Park, New Jersey. A lovely pond and fountain welcome you into the complex. There is a clubhouse, a playground, and an outdoor pool, all available to the residents. There are 12 buildings spread out around an oval, and that oval is a wonderful "track" to jog, walk, take out the dog, and meet your neighbors.
The majority of the condos are 2 bedroom and 2 full baths, with living room, kitchen, dining room, laundry room, and sliding glass doors to a deck or patio. These are one floor units, approximately 1184 square feet. Some of the third floor "penthouse" units feature a wood burning fireplace and skylights. Each condo has one assigned parking space, and there is plenty of second car and guest parking throughout the complex. One of the best parts of living here at Woodland Hills are the maintenance fees...just about $130 per month!
I've lived at Woodland Hills for over ten years, and I love the surroundings of woods and meadows. In the spring, the trees blooming in the complex are beautiful, I love the tranquility of the green woods and meadows in the summer, and the foilage in the Fall is breathtaking.
Give me a call to take a tour of Woodland Hills...or with any questions on Lincoln Park Real Estate. I'd love to have you as a neighbor!

Support Your Local Shoemaker!
As a real estate agent, for Century 21 Crest in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, I go through a lot of shoes. And, as a vertically challenged (ok, so I'm short) person, I always wear heels, and the heels always get ruined. Usually, I just throw the shoes out and get a new pair. Now, I don't buy expensive shoes, but it is aggravating and costly when they only last a few months.
Well, last week, I finally went on a search for a neighborhood shoemaker in the area of Lincoln Park. (I guess the smart thing to do would have been to check the internet or yellow pages, but I just asked around.) It took awhile, but I finally found out that there was a shoemaker in Pompton Plains..just up the road from my office.
I went into Mario's Shoe Repair*, and there was a lovely woman behind the counter and a shoemaker in the back. She told me they could put lifts on my boots, for $8.00, while I waited. I sat myself down and had a chat with the woman, who had started the store many years ago with her husband, who passed away 25 years ago. The shoemaker in the back was her brother. As I spent time in the shop, the woman showed me pictures of times gone by, and told me of the Totes and hand-sewn pocketbooks that used to line the shelves. There is not much demand for these items anymore, she said, and now the shelves are empty except for some shoelaces and bottles of shoe polish. I was saddened by the sense that the need for shoemakers seems to be dwindling.
I decided then and there that I would spread the word to my friends and co-workers that there is an alternative to throwing away worn shoes...a shoemaker right in the neighborhood. Then I decided to spread the word on a blog. For $8.00, and 15 minutes of my time, my boots will be walking for a few more months. So, don't throw away your shoes..save some money and support your local shoemaker!
