Hockey Day in Canada - USA vs. Canada for Gold.

Don Cherry:  A Canadian Icon?

Today I am estimating 7 out of 10 Canadians if not higher will be watching the Men's Canadian Olympic Team go for gold.  I am Canadian so I am definitely cheering on the Canadians and hoping for a victory.

A Canadian Icon in hockey is Mr. Don Cherry.   Don Cherry is best known for his love of hockey as a commentator on "Coach's Corner."   Prior to Coach's Corner he was a hockey player and coach in the National Hockey League.  He was known as the coach of the famous Bobby Orr with the Boston Bruins.

Don Cherry was born in Kingston, Ontario.  Only 45 minutes down the 401 from my community - The City of Belleville.  Don is well known across the hockey community even with children of young ages.  He usually has a small piece of advice for them. (Picture below courtesy of sportsnet)  He is also well known for his unusual fashion sense.

However, his undying love and support of our Canadian Troops is just a big a passion for him as hockey.  I have cried a few tears in my living room watching him give tribute to our Canadian Military.

Don Cherry was voted the seventh most popular Canadian on "The Greatest Canadian" program.

If you like hockey and you are a Canadian - you know Don Cherry.

Thanks Don for caring!  Thank you for supporting Canada and our troops!

(P.S. Don predicts a 5 - 3 gold win for Canada - would you expect anything less?)

Stirling Festival Theatre

The Stirling Festival Theatre

What makes the Quinte Area so unique is the fact that we have many smaller towns making up our surroundings.

One small town just north of us is Stirling, Ontario. Here is a picture of hub of Downtown Stirling the cover bridge. It has a small gathering area in which Stirling hosts many activities throughout the year.

Downtown Stirling

Stirling is host to "The Stirling Fesitval Theatre" and many locals from the area love this experience. There motto is: Small Town Theatre with Big Talent. The 2010 seasons schedule has been released and this year will be no different. The theatre has had approximately $500,000.00 of renovations since being established. It has had air conditioning installed, washrooms updated, a complete overhaul of the box office and many more.

I personally am excited at going to see "Driving Miss Daisy" for a reasonable price of $25.00 per adult in July. It is on the stage from July 7 - 17, 2010.

Whether your relocating to the area or just coming for a visit - take time to enjoy what Stirling has to offer.

The Stirling Festival Theatre is just one of the many attractions that Stirling has.

Loyalist College

This is the time of year where students and parents alike are awaiting news of acceptance into the university or college of their choice. For many that choice is Loyalist College .

Loyalist College official open its doors in 1967 in a local high school and had a permanent home in 1968 at its own facility. Just in two years after establishing it owns facility the demand for the more space became evident and further construction was necessary to add an additional wing to the college called: Lennox and Addington Wing.

Loyalist College is located in a community in which I live called Belleville, also known as "The Friendly City." Loyalist is located on 200 acres of land in our wonderful city. Our city offers a number of great activities for the students whether it be our local sports community and facilities, restaurants, theater's, shopping, etc.

Our Friendly City is located just off of the 401. The City of Belleville is connected to many other cities via buses, trains or automobile transportation.

Residence is a great place for some first year students but it is not for everyone. Each year we work with parents who want to have their child secure in their own home perhaps with a few rooms rented out to other students. It is a great opportunity to buy an income property that will always have another interested parent to purchase it in 2 or 3 years time. No matter what you're searching for, let me assist you in finding the property that will put your mind at rest and allow you both to enjoy all that Loyalist College has to offer you!

On the Job Hazards

On the Job Hazards:

Unfortunately, every job has "On the Job Hazards" and we are no exception in the real estate world. Where I live we enjoy four seasons in the Quinte Area. Now, don't get me wrong because I love the four seasons but homeowners need to be aware of the hazards in their own home and ensure that they are cleaned up before a home showing and before an open house. In my area, that includes removing snow from your driveway and sidewalk and ensuring that we have no build up of ice. I know this is not an easy task but a necessary one to ensure that all remain safe.

As I was surfing, Stumble Upon, I came across another profession that while filming encountered an "On the Job Hazard." I have to tell you, if you need a good laugh, please watch this video. Let's call it "Happy Tuesday."

Video is courtesy of: mickeydroog. Watch to the end. A Network Nine weather man is attacked by a pelican during the morning show.

Power of the Community Part Two

On Saturday the Mayor of Quinte West called the residents and neighbouring communities to come forth and show our support for the military after the difficult weeks we have had in our community.

Well, it was a success! They estimate approximately 2000 people were in attendance. Our community is 100% behind our Canadian Military. We realize that the actions of an individual do not speak for the balance of an organization.

This is another great reason to relocate to our community.

An organization that I participate in The Canadian Army Veterans Motorcyle Unit was visible at the rally. Our organization is made up of brothers and sisters that are Veterans and/or supporters of our Veterans that enjoy riding our Motorcycles. Our Motto is: "To have fun riding while helping others."

I am so proud of our community.
