As Hurricane Hannah approached the Charleston, SC coast, and most people were busy buying
out their local grocery stores or preparing to evacuate, I had "hunkered" down at home with
three weeks worth of USA Today, a stack of various trade publications, two new books from
Barnes and Nobles and enough "adult beverages" to shame any Louisiana Cajun's best
Hurricane Party, when it hit me:
No, not Hurricane Hannah.
It was a advertisement in my local Charleston Post & Courier newspaper proclaiming that,
"Research has show that 80% of buyers come from ads in the newspaper"
and urged buyers to "encourage" their Realtor to make sure that their house was advertised in the
classifieds.
I almost spilled my "Hurricane nerve medication" as I begin looking through different publications,
frantically searching....there it was:
An article from the National Association of Realtors (NAR) that proudly proclaimed that
"84% of buyers 84 percent of all buyers in 2007" (up from 80 percent in 2006) originated from
the internet...(and warned that if you were not marketing on the internet, you were not cool.)
So, with a Hurricane bearing down on me, stressed out thinking that we may lose power and not be able
to see my favorite college team play, and now, two highly regarded sources (No, not McCain & Obama)
both claiming that they are right, will somebody please tell me who do you believe?
P.S. As you can tell from my photo below, I have been drinking the Newspaper "kool-aid"

P.P.S. But, I was not making fun of the Hurricane. Can we have the next Hurricane party at your house?
