Please join me in welcoming Janice Lane to the Active Rain community!

Who is Janice Lane?

Janice and her husband, Scott Lane, started Capitol City Real Estate Investors

Association 7 years ago in Columbia, S.C. because they wanted to get out of the "rat race" and build a

net worth for their retirement.

She specializes in mentoring others in fullfil their dream of real estate investing.

I feel confident that she will contribute to ActiveRain just as she has in her community in Columbia.

If you have a real estate question or need, I urge you to contact Janice @ www.screi.com

I appreciate her...you will too!

Why I hate mobile phones

My Grandmother taught me the difference between right and wrong; she also taught me to say "Yes sir/ma'm and No sir/ma'm and a lot of "life lessons".

One of the most important life lessons that she taught me was to forgive and that I should not have "Hate" in my heart.

"Grandma, if you are looking down on your favorite little grandson: I'm sorry! I have tried to remember everything that you taught me, but I really hate mobile phones"

And to be perfectly honest, it's not the actual mobile phones - it's the people who mis-use them.

Mobile phones have helped to make inconsiderate, clueless people even more crass and more inconsiderate.

Last week, I was attending the funeral of a friend's wife; everyone is shivering around the gravesite awaiting the family to be seated when a mobile phone starts playing Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and instead of being embarrased and muting the sound, a guy answers and begins talking! ( I kid you not)

The Preacher conducting the service, was more courteous than the idiot taking the call, paitently waited until he had finished before beginning his eulogy.

What are people thinking?

Office Behind The Wheel

I have personally seen several people in the lane next to me furiously texting just seconds befor rear-ending the car in front of them.

My Grandmother taught me that I have an obligation to hold up my end of the implied social contract by not imposing myself on those around me.

In public places, how can I nicely tell the young man dining at the adjoining table that I do not wish to share his musical tastes; how can I tell them in a nice way, that do not care about their latest wheelings and dealings?

Yesterday, we had a business meeting with 24 other prominent business professionals; there was a 3 foot sign at the doorway asking everyone to turn off their cell phones; the moderator began the meeting by asking, once again, for everyone to silence their cell phones; less than 6 minutes later, someone's cell phone began playing "Star Wars".

When the moderator ask the person to leave the room, they became indignant and started making excuses as to why they had not turned their phone off. (They eventually left the meeting after causing a disruption)

Just because technology allows you to act like a inconsiderate, out-of-control teenager does this mean that you should?

Am I the only person who feels this way about mobile phones?

Was I the only person who had a Grandmother with a "switch" that wasn't afraid to use it?

I appreciate you!

Since it has been a few weeks since our last

Dealmaker's Mastermind Breakfast meeting,

I thought that I would take a second and review

the "minutes" and comments from our last meeting:

"This was the best REI meeting we have been to yet, lots of information and exceptional member participation. As new members of the group, we look forward to many more great meetings."

J. Christie

"The breakfast meeting was awesome this morning. Several of the members were back from a weekend seminar with Josh. Their excitement and enthusiasm spilled over, as they shared some of the things they learned. Tommy and others shared experiences they had with the eviction process. Everyone agreed they have gained from the group and want to contribute as well so that all can continue to gain and grow individually. Best breakfast meeting in months."

Sheryl Greenberg

"I think we are all getting a little bit better at getting a meaningful question and answer & brainstorming session going at these breakfast meetings. Keep up the good work!"

Rodney Rogers

"We have the most Synergetic group in Charleston"
