The market has really started to heat up, with more buyers searching for their first or next home. The number of new listings has increased and the number of homes going under contract has also increased. The numbers boast an improvement in the housing market here in Maryland.
These figures are taken directly from our MRIS system and are believed to be accurate.
Glen Burnie, MD
New Listings 36 (increase of 15 from last week) Total 438
Under Contract 28 (increase of 9 from last week)
Settled Sales 7 (decrease of 10 from last week)
Anne Arundel County
New Listings 279 (increase of 50 from last week) Total 3854 (increase of 56 from last week)
Under Contract 218 (increase of 96 over last week)
Settled Sales 34 (decrease of 99 over last week)
Glen Burnie offers many affordable housing opportunities for those relocating to Ft. Meade and Annapolis. Glen Burnie is located north on 97 from rt 50 or north on Rt. 2 from Annapolis Naval Academy and east along 32 and north on 97 from Ft. Meade. It is a relatively easy commute from either base and only a couple short miles from the Curtis Bay Coast Guard Station too.
The spring market is actually heating up. And with all of the bad news in real estate nationally, here are two pieces of critical GOOD news:
1. Baltimore showed a net increase of 2.1% in prices for 2007 (according to Zillow)
2. Baltimore falls in tier 4 of the PMI Group's national assessment of Real Estate Economic Trends...which means there is only a 10-20% chance that real estate prices will fall lower in Baltimore in the coming year. There are many MSAs who would like to be able to say the same.
Baltimore, Maryland
New Listings - 403
Total Number of Active Listings - 5000+
Homes that went under contract - 153
Settled Sales - 105
I have been keeping an eye on the marketplace here in my office's home county. There has been an increase in activity, more calls, more buyers, more listings overall and more contracts being written and statistically shown here more sales settled this week. It's great for us as realtors and also shows an increase in people's confidence in the housing market.
