Colorado and Denver Home Appreciation in 2009 (year-to-date, through November)

Inspired by a Zillow blog for the Best-Performing Cities of 2009, in which Colorado cities dominated their list for the Western region, I decided to look a little further into the actual Metrolist, Inc. sales numbers for the Denver Metro region and put together my own graphic based on actual year-to-date Colorado and Denver home sales figures in order to find Colorado and Denver Home Appreciation in 2009. Please see my chart below. Average home sale price figures are in dollars and the percentage change is year-over year. All data is from Metrolist, Inc.

A number of areas in in the Denver Metro area performed rather well considering the U.S is in the greatest recession since the great depression. For residential homes, No. Suburban Central and No. Suburban West's home values performed well, gaining 1.4% and 2.3% y-o-y, respectively. These areas include Arvada real estate, Westminster real estate, Thornton real estate and Northglenn real estate.

Denver homes also performed well, especially Southwest Denver real estate; it's home values increased 10.6% y-o-y. Other noteables from my research were Boulder CO, which had its residential homes appreciate 6.7% y-o-y, and Louisville CO homes, which were up 1.8%.
