The breezes from the ocean keeps us a little cooler in the summer.

Jensen Beach, it is located in South Florida on the East Coast just 45 minutes north of West Palm Beach and on the southern county line of Saint Lucie (one of the fastest growing counties in Florida). It is only about 2 hours away from Miami and Orlando is a only 2 and half hours. You don't have to leave Jensen Beach to experience Florida living at its best. It has great beaches, lots of sun and you can see the Shuttle launch from your front yard.

When I was young and not so worried about skin cancer. We would go to the beach all the time, we would surf, skim board and sun bath with oil. All of these activities made you very hungry. You could have a pizza, if you were super hungry and didn't care what you ate. When I was a teen, the only kind of pizza we had here were the yucky kind. Not like today were there are NY, Chicago and California style, authentic Naples and the list can go on. Your chooses were very limited, as a matter of fact, much of your food chooses in general were limited, we only had one McDonald's, one Burger King, one KFC and that was it. We only had one or two sub-shops too, the two grocery stores did not offer sub either. Amazingly, those the one subshop we would goto all the time had really good subs and is STILL one of the best Locally Owned and Operated sub-shops in town.
A normal summer day, you would walk in all sandy and order a Supreme, that is their specialty sub. (I get mine with extra provolone cheese, hot peppers on a soft sub) It was piled high with meat and cheese, which would just ooze out of the ends. The roast beef is prepared and cooked by the owner. If you went on an early Sunday morning you could even catch my Dad having breakfast with the owner while watch the roast cook. When I was a kid, my Dad would bring me into the shop, I would sit under the counter. Which was this old wood counter that had phone numbers and peoples names carved into it; Like Tommy was here and sometimes there would be a date next to it. Yes, as a teen ager my name was add to this counter top. I have gone in and out of this shop all of my life. The counter top is still there and the original owner's son and his wife own the shop now. It is still in Jensen Beach, in the town were it started in 1973.
So remember when you come to visit Jensen Beach, don't just go to the beach, go to Shakra's Deli and get yourself a roast beef Supreme. It's really good and the calories don't count (because your in Florida).
