Saturday March 3

Spring Training Begins Throughout the West Valley. The start of the baseball season is here with the start of Spring Training. Enjoy some laid back fun in the Arizona sun! Here's the websites to 4 West Valley Ballparks:

Annual Litchfield Park Friends of the Rec 10k, 5k, and 1 mile Fun Run/Walk & Family Classroom Challenge. It's not too late to participate, race day registration begins at 6:30am at the Litchfield Park Recreation Center. Cost is $25 or $15 dollars depending on the event. the 10k begins at 7:30am, the Family Classroom Challlenge at 8am, the 5k at 9am and the 1 mile at 9:45. An official race t-shirt and a raffle ticket will be given to all participants. Refreshments will be available for race registrants as well. The 2012 Bark for Life of Southwest Valley, AZ. American Cancer Society's 1st Annual Bark for Life in Goodyear is anon-competitive walk event for dogs and their owners which raises money for a great cause, the fight against cancer. The walk is being held March 3 from 9am to 1pm at the Goodyear Community Park. Visit the American Cancer Society Bark for Life website to register or learn more.

Rattlesake Rules - A Story at Estrella Mountain Park. Conrad J. Sonte, a popular children's author and science writer will be at the Estrella Nature Center to share his new children's book called "Rattlesnake's Rules." The book offers an education look into the amazing world of rattlesnakes. The event runs from 10am to 11:30am at the Estrella Mountain Regional Park Nature Center. Shop for fresh produce from local farmers as well as work from local artisans and all kinds of yummy foods on the beautiful front lawn of the Wigwam. 1st Sundays of the month include an Educated Eater Experience. 14th Annual Litchfield Park Spring Art & Culinary Festival at Wigwam in Litchfield Park March 10. Over 200 fine artists and craftsmen exhibiting fine art and crafts, a wine garden with wine and beer tastings, Culinary delights from Wigwam chefs, live music and more. Admission is free. Tres Rios Nature and Earth Festival March 10th and 11th from 9am to 4pm. This popular event returns to Estrella Mountain Regional Park offering a unique opportunity for nature lovers to visit a riparian corridor in the West Valley near where the Salt River and the Agua Fria River join the Gila River. Discover a world of wildlife, history and culture. Event includes canoe excursions, early birding tours, hikes, fishing clinic, nature trail and beginning bird watching, Kidzone, Entertainment and more! FREE Admission, Parking $3 per car. Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds to Host Celebrity Charity Golf Classic at Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear
On March 2nd the Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds will host a celebrity charity golf classic at the beautiful Golf Club at Estella in Goodyear. Proceeds from the spring training golf tournament will benefit the H.O.P.E Team, a nonprofit organization that supports the patients and families at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Goodyear. Last year's inaugural tournament raised almost $20,000!
Current and former Reds and Indians players will participate in the golf tournament. Joining them will be the front office personnel, broadcasters and coaches. The tournament will include sports memorabilia, raffle items, silent auctions and more. Cookin' on Wood will prepare the mesquite grilled BBQ dinner after the event.
The cost to participate is $300 per person or $825 per threesome. The entry fee includes an event polo shirt, a goodie bag, green fees, bag handling, cart, range balls and the awards dinner.
The tournament activities begin at 11:30 am with registration and golfers warm-up. The shotgun start begins at 1:00 pm and each threesome is paired with a celebrity.

Friday February 3rd

Buckeye Days Celebrates Arizona's Centennial This Weekend
Buckeyes Days is back with three days of Old West fun! Here's a schedule of events:
Friday Night
6th Street Plaza 6pm to 10pm: Live Country Music, Chuck Wagon BBQ Dinner, Arizona Hold'em Poker Tournament, Carriage Rides Trivia Challenge.
Saturday
Historic Downtown Buckeye 10am: Old West Cattle Drive and Parade. Cowboys will be driving 50 head of cattle through downtown Buckeye as part of the parade! The parade will also have cowboys, horses, cars, tractors and more.
6th Street Plaza 11am to 2pm: Live Country Music, Old West Gun Fight, Lil'Miss and Mister Buckeye, Pony Rides, Games, Kid Zone, Old Fashioned Photos.
South Buckeye Equestrian Center 2pm: Buckeye Senior Pro Rodeo. After dinner enjoy a steak dinner and a Charity Scholarship Auction.
Sunday
South Buckeye Equestrian Center 2pm: Buckeye Senior Pro Rodeo and Outlaw Chili Cook-Off.
