I have lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 1981. My parents were in the military my father retired from the US Navy in 1978 between kinda garden and graduation I attended 17 different schools. The families of our armed services surrender their lives as well to the service of our country.
This at the time was huge or at least I thought so at the time. I now look at it as something I am proud I got to do. We lived in Hawaii, FL, VA, SC, UT,CA, TX
Some of those places several different times. We settled the in Garland TX at the beginning of my senior year in high school. I hated it! It was Flat, it was Hot, it was August in Texas.
I married right out of high school after that I was here to stay. I have been here ever since. Reasons I love it here.
1 The people in general are just wonderful
2 Yes, the Summer can get pretty hot but the rest of the year is super weather.
3 The job market has been pretty good to great since I have been here yes even in the 80's I was able to find not just one job but up to three at the same time.
4 The cost of living is great compared to the other places I have lived or visited.
5 We have everything expect a beach well you can get to some but not the types I am use to yes spoiled but hard to beat Hawaii. Sports, Entertainment, World Class Theater, Art, Gardens, History, Shopping and so much more.
6 If you like biking, we have some wonderful trails
7 Parks, rivers and lakes abound our area
8 Our traffic can be a bit crazy but nothing like I have seen in the LA are or Houston.
9 You are in the center just about in the country so flying in and out to the rest of the world it is pretty easy from DFW or Love Field
10 Housing cost you can buy a new 3-2-2 Brick home about 1500 sq ft with a fenced yard around 100K and with PITI your total payment would be as little as 950.00 a month. My sister just bought a home in the Long Beach area and paid for an older home 580,000. I won't share the payment but it is high.
If you are moving here or thinking about it love to help you find if this is the place for you and/or yours.
I am not a native Texan but I got here as soon as I could kicking and screaming but you can't get me out of here now.
Keller Texas has always been a pretty good market to work in. I did the absorption rate for the city as a whole this morning and have found that it is turning in favor of the buyers. A healthy market is a 6 months supply.
Currently there is a little over a 9.04 month supply that is up from the 6.62 supply we had at 12 months ago and a up from our 6 months ago which was 6.89.
As a whole that is not to bad considering the media, holiday and weather not to bad I expect to see that turn back in about 30 to 60 days from now as we head into the spring and lower interest rates.
This infomation is based of numbers supplied to me from Ntreis.net, and calulation formula from Zan Monroe. There are currently 407 homes available in the 76248 zip code of Keller TX. This information was compiled on December 16, 2008 by myself.
