Last night the Semi pulled into the Target parking lot and Tri-Cities Tennessee started salivating. Girl Scout cookies have arrived, and just in time for the sweet Valentines Day. The cookie mom's will line up today with their troops and collect their boxes for delivery. Tri Cities, get ready for your cookies! If you forgot to order any, the girl scouts will be outside several major stores and businesses over the next couple week-ends selling them.. $3.50 a box. Johnson City Public Library is a great place to visit! It is right in the center of town and caters to people of all ages. It has an imagination station for our young readers and a fabulous Kindle station and books on CD for the readers who would prefer to be read to. The library has 2 levels of reading and learning areas, and several private rooms for special events. It's warm and comfortable and has great, helpful people who work there. Last night I left the warmth and comfort of my PJ's and fireplace and met up with my girl friend Cathy Armstrong, Broke/Owner at Heritage Homes Bristol, in downtown Bristol Tennessee, for their annual Gallery hop. She didn't have to twist my arm too hard! I had read about this Gallery event a few nights before and was excited about getting out to downtown Bristol and enjoying some great art and people.Seven galleries opened their doors from 6-9pm and offered up wine and appetizers.
I discovered several galleries I had never been in before and a fabulous photographer with his own studio in Downtown Bristol. Benjamin Walls is a young, established photographer with his works featured in 7 fine art galleries and exhibits in 50 museums in 12 countries. His work is fantastic!
I also met up with CS Thompson, author of a mystery series that takes place in our neck of the woods. he was a delight, and came over to our table and read excerpts out of his newest book, Why Me.
It was a delightful night, and I did eventually end up back on my couch, in my PJ's, in front of my fire. Only now, I had a great book to read and lot's of art to think about!
Thank you Downtown Bristol Tennessee, for a great night out with my good buddy Cathy Armstrong, Heritage Homes Bristol Tennessee
I have a Living Series on my website, Tri-Cities and beyond.com, it explores all the fantastic areas that are within a short drive to our home base in the Tri-Cities Tennessee. We have videos about areas such as, Asheville NC, Charlotte NC, Knoxville TN, Abingdon VA and our latest video is from Gatlinburg Tennessee. All these areas are less then a 3 hour drive and make for a really great week-end getaway. Tri-Cities Tennessee is made up of it's three core cities, Johnson City, Kingsport and Bristol, and lots of smaller communities. It's a great place to raise a family and retire. Please enjoy our video.
