It's Friday night football time again!

Okay, this may not excite all of you out there, but for the teen-agers, parents of teen-agers and supporting communities, this is an incredible time of year. It is so much fun to see the excitment and team spirit running through a town for our high schools. Friday afternoon, you stop into the bank or dry cleaner... the question you hear is, "are you going to the game tonight?" Team colors are worn and the local businesses are proud to hang flags. Our team, Science Hill Hilltoppers, are 1 and 1 for the season so far. Both home games have been sell outs and the band rocks at halftime. The band is equally impressive in our community. Just as many band fans attend the games as football fans. Pre-game, Half time and post game, the parents are in the stands cheering away. I just want to say, "go team" to all the high school teams across the country. And parents, enjoy this time, it is fleeting. I've included a band photo from Friday's game!

Warriors path

I live in a great area. There is absolutley so much to do. We have four seasons, none of them brutal. We have culture, education, professionals, outdoors beauty, mountains, lakes, hiking, white water rafting, much more. We have a good mix of people. We are all different. Some from the north, west, east and some grew up here. We mesh well. Today I would like to share with you our mountain bike trails. I was first introduced to them about 6 weeks ago. It took me that long to get back on them! They are kind of like ski trails, they have easy, intermediate and BLACK DIAMOND! Well, just like how I learned to snow ski, day one and my friend slips in a black diamond with out me even knowing. aghhhh...it was fun, but boy did I take home some scrapes and bruises. Come on, I'm nor 12 anymore. Last week I went out twice, I've hit all the trails, sticking mainly to the easy trails. It's soooooo much fun. You are going, up, down, hitting roots and rocks, going through water and rocks again. Sounds kind of crazy, but so much fun. Plus all along the trails you see the beauty of the area. We had a young buck walk up to us, maybe 20 feet away. I wish I would have had my camera then. I did manage a few pictures from the time before though. Enjoy. and come vist Northeast Tennessee

What a concept!

First off, Happy fourth!!!! I am on vacation here in Northern Michigan and came across two wonderful concepts from city of Petoskey that I would just like to say, THANK YOU! The other day we were shopping and our time ran out on the parking meter. We turn the corner to see a 'ticket' on the windshield. I kept saying to my sister, "maybe it's not a ticket" knowing it probably was! Well, it wasn't. It was a warning, welcoming us to the city (Tennessee plates) and giving us 1 hour to return and fill meter. Wow. That was nice. Then today, I noticed on the meter, they have a phone number you can call and fill your meter by cell phone!!!! I love this. I could shop all day and not worry about a ticket. Just a thought. Thanks Petoskey!

A really cool idea I picked up last night.

I'm visiting home town this week. I went to a Detroit Tiger game with some friends and as we're driving I look down at this box of "treats" on the floor. It had, nuts, granola, cereal bars, all sorts of healthy snacks. I asked Lisa, "is this in case we get hungry"? Her answer amazed me. She keeps a box of healthy snacks for the homeless people she runs into throughout life. She also keeps wool and linen socks (new fresh pairs) and depending on the season/holiday, she will tuck treats into the socks. At Christmas she puts a few dollars in the socks, sometimes, just treats. Her children help to. Just a cool thing that I am starting TODAY!

On a side note...Go Tigers!
