In Charlotte, they have everything...including old people...some even as old as me. Who knew ?
So if you are over 50 and are still looking for the fountain of youth...Look no further. Call Charlotte, Viagraville with a twist.
Charlotte has a youthful attitude. Race cars, Pro basketball, NFL Football, and urban skyscraper growth, allows Charlotte to shine with tall buildings and Mansions popping up everywhere.
Let the recession go elsewhere. We don't need it here.
Old Ponce de Leon in Florida was only a couple five hundred miles off. If only he had taken I-95 from Florida to I-26 and Jumped on I-77, He would have found the fountain here in Charlotte. Obviously He could have saved himself a whole lot of trouble.
Fine arts, museums galore, spectacular orchestra music, artisans, and smiles on every corner...Charlotte beckons you to claim it home. A great city with a southern attitude combining New York and California with a drawl and style. Pick your base and you are still at home. You may even say Ya'll come and see us to friends and neighbors.
But Back to old Ponce , he would have found a business friendly state and city that ranks in Forbes as one of the country's best for business. Then he would have found Quality Real Estate at terrific prices and an infrastructure that is constantly growing. Yep, planes, trains and automobiles with roads that are constantly being built. He would also have seen an educated base of talented workers. Smart and cutting edge minds that propel our area and attract top talent. Old Ponce never knew what he was missing.
Unfortunately, he was a passer-by....A lookie-lou chasing a dream that was right in front of him.
Charlotte is where dreams have come true. It is also a fountain... of youthful ideas and dreams that makes us as good as there is for those seeking a dream.
And if you want reality with a dream.... Opportunity abounds here... step aboard ....the train is moving
Some things equate and some things don't. Sweet revenge is what the Panthers extracted in today's win.
Julius Peppers is worth every dime! A great Panther win! cheers for Charlotte! Cheers for the Panthers. Move aside the Panthers are back!
Even the famous Ballantyne Bulls were getting ready for the event.
Local door stoops are getting Spruced up for little goblins and ghosts preparing the annual ritual of begging for candy.
I really don't know why this is a national candy night. Maybe the candy manufacturers have a part in this. Or Maybe it's a ploy by dentists to drum up business.
No matter, I gladly give up treats to door bell ringers with smiles. The rookie Trick-or-Treaters give me the biggest smile.
So all of this pumpkin decor means festive attitudes are filling the air. Halloween parties have been planned and Costumes are being tweaked to get just the right scary look.
As for me, I am pretty much a homebody at Halloween.
I need no costume as my reflection in the mirror gets scarier every year.

This is the Holiday that Booing is encouraged.
Charlotte has an identity. We are not called Charlatans
..we are Charlotteans Yes we are an old, old mining town. But that petered out long ago. The University of North Carolina Charlotte calls themselves the “Forty-Niners” after the gold miners from back in the 1830’s and 40's. So, we in Charlotte don’t call ourselves the Forty-Niners. The School Does.
Then, there is the fact we are named after King George's German born Queen – Charlotte of the German Mecklenburg-Strelitz family. But we don’t call ourselves "Queenies" either. (thank goodness) However, the city is referred to as the "Queen City".
As Charlotte is in Mecklenburg County, (yep, same German Queen ), we do not call ourselves Mecklenburgers, (although that would be a clever name for local hamburgers).
We have adopted the colloquial name of Charlotteans. After awhile it gets easier to pronounce.
The reason I am even writing this is to correct and set the record straight on the proper pronunciation of who we are.
I recently had a nice young couple relocate from another state. I called them after closing to see how they were adjusting to their new home. The husband responded “ Fantastic !, I’m starting to feel like a true Charlatan “…Ack (this is why pronunciation is necessary)
I don’t plan on giving Webster’s differentiation on meanings. I am just trying to get the phonics out there. We are Char–low-tee-ans, (not Charlatans). I hope this helps portray who we are and solidify our identity.
The idea of being a Charlatan who just happens to be a successful Realtor® is not the exact marketing I’m trying to push forward. Cheers from a Charlottean.

Charlotte loves NASCAR® and NASCAR® loves Charlotte. There's a bunch of racing for the cup going on right in our backyard.
On a cool October day, things are heating up for Charlotte NASCAR® fans. The Banking 500 is on for tonight and it should prove to be one heck of a race.
There is a twist in the name of the race from last year’s Bank of America 500. It’s called The Banking 500 (with Bank of America’s logo) I guess BOA is playing this a little low key, (But their logo is there?) Oh well…They paid for it.
All the drivers are ready, as Charlotte is always a favorite location. The vast majority of race teams call the area home.
The new NASCAR® Hall of Fame is also here. So for most of them this is a back yard race.
It is very thrilling to feel and hear the rush of race cars traveling close to 200mph a stone throw away. I have been behind the wheel (at the Petty Race experience) on the speedway track. I was white knuckling it near 150mph and we were the only car on the track.
Our old governor (Easley) even took a shot at this and wrecked a car. So considering these guys go three wide at break neck speeds, it is thrilling to watch.
This may not appeal to all and I guess it’s not supposed to. But If you never have experienced a race in person and are curious .... I Highly Reccommend it !
This is just one of the varied sports venues Charlotte has to offer. Next week, the Carolina Panthers are back in town. And the BOBCATS are playing preseason hoops getting ready for the start of the season. Fall is a great season for area spectator sports.
