Help for Homeowners

Good news is coming for homeowners who need some assistance with refinancing. Those looking for the opportunity to lower thier payments or interest rate may have the ability to do so even if they have been affected negatively by the current economic conditions.

You may be eligible for the HOPE for Homeowners loan program through HUD. Let me know if you want more information on this subject.

SD mortgage consumers to get added protection

In 2007 the South Dakota Association of Mortgage Professionals passed a new law requiring mortgage brokers and loan officers to pass a FBI criminal background check. This new law also requires each loan officer to be registered with the state of SD Division of Banking, obtain minimum education and experience to become a broker, obtain continuing education each year, and have a surety bond.

We are excited that SD consumers will be given added protection with a new Federal law that requires additional items, including registering and obtaining FBI criminal background checks for every loan officer, including bank loan officers. The new federal requirements will be brought to the SD State Legislative Session in 2009. This will bring added protection and will prevent unscrupulous lenders from actively working in this state with unknown backgrounds.

Please feel free to ask me about additional information on this subject in South Dakota, or the new Federal Law, the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008.
