Wedded Bliss

By Coco Clayman-Cook

Newlyweds have a great deal to contend with in this day and age. With both partners usually working who wants to take time to trim hedges or contract a gardener? There are certain times in life when we shouldn't have to deal with the mundane day to day mumbo jumbo, and certainly one of those times is when you are a newly wed.

Does that mean that newlyweds should miss out on all the perks of home ownership? Certainly not! One ideal solution is vertical living. Buying a condominium affords the bride and groom a lifestyle free of many of your typical house hold duties - gardening, maintenance of the grounds, the fireplace, (I could go on and on). Buy the condo and if you plan to have children stay there until its time for green living and this time I mean a yard. Condos have the same advantages of nearby shopping, night life and restaurants. They still build equity just like a house and get the same tax deductions.

Transitioning To Condo Life

By Coco Clayman-Cook

There are many reasons to transition to Condo living. In today's market there are a variety of home owners who have found the need to downsize their living space and living expenses. Many have found that an affordable condominium makes an ideal investment and superlative living situation.

With amenities like gyms and fitness centers in the building it is easy to see the benefits of Condo Life on health and wallet. There is frequently a savings in time, commute times reduced to next to nothing and gas costs are greatly reduced as a result.

Condo life is a great solution for anyone transitioning from a traditional home regardless of the reason. If you are looking for the ideal living situation contact me and I will show you what the LA Condo Lifestyle has to offer. I could not live without it.

The First Steps

By Coco Clayman-Cook

A baby's first steps are vital. They may not be the most finessed but they are just the beginning of a series of steps that will create a lifetime of memories. A young family's first steps are equally important. The importance of entering into home ownership can not be overstated. But there are many things to be considered, not the least of which is the added expense that inevitably comes with a child.

Buying a home doesn't have to be a huge overwhelming step. I frequently recommend that young couples begin their home buying experience with a more affordable condominium. There are still the benefits of home ownership, but fewer responsibilities to tie a young family down.

The first steps are important but they don't have to be giant. You need to make sure that you live within your means and that your purchase will not cut into the lifestyle you are accustomed to.

Greening Your Water

By Coco Clayman-Cook

Now that we all know the benefits of proper hydration it is normal to see bottled water offered everywhere. This is a lovely thing but also creates an abundance of plastic bottles and not all of them can be morphed into cute reusable shopping bags.

A great way to reduce plastic waste is to install a water filter in your home. Water filters generally pay for themselves very quickly and have far reaching benefits. I always have a big liter of water with me wherever I go and I do have a water filter in my kitchen. but now I refill the Fiji bottles when I can and am pricing a "whole house filter" These amazing filters are installed so that all of the water running through your pipes has been filtered. The result is cleaner drinking water, better functioning appliances, less clean up and the best shower or bath of your life. Believe me, your hair and skin will thank you. And the best part? There are no bottles to lug, stack and recycle! Unless you are like me and drink 3 liters of water a day.

Green Cost

By Coco Clayman-Cook

I love the ongoing dialogue about going green! I recently received this email with many helpful suggestions from my friends at Green for Life after posing the question; does it cost more to go green? I thought it was worth reprinting here. Thanks for the many great suggestions, keep them coming!

Hi Coco,

Does it cost more to go Green? It will cost us and our environment
more if we DO NOT go green. Being green doesn't have to be complex
or expensive. The greenest thing that we do can be the simplest.

First of all we can purchase used furniture or clothes instead of
buying new. For one, there is no extra environmental impact or
energy used to produce these items. The only energy use would be the
cleaning of the items. This is step two of the three Rs, reduce,
reuse and recycle. When we feel we need to change our decor or need
new clothes we should head out to the consignment stores or thrift
stores. When we are getting rid of different items, either send
them to the consignment store (where you will get back some money)
or sent them to the thrift store.
