As we look for ways to green our homes and environment, one of my favorite ways is to completely remove toxic cleaners from my home and office. For years we have all used the equivalent of a toxic waste dump to clean our homes. The residue of which has lingered in our homes (which by the way is not good for us) or been washed down our many types of drains and eventually runs into the ocean. I donate to Heal the Bay.
More and more people are recognizing there is a need for natural cleaning products that are better for us and better for the environment. A trip down any cleaning aisle will demonstrate that even the biggest cleaning companies are jumping on the green cleaning band wagon. I'm not sure how "green" those products really are, but they are certainly greener than the alternatives from years past. If you are looking for truly natural alternatives for your cleaning products I suggest shopping at a Whole Foods Market, Wild Oats or Trader Joe's. If you don't live near one of those Melalucca is a reputable company that will ship directly to your home. Clean Green and help save yourself and the environment.

A Quiet Moment
Are you ever overwhelmed? Does it feel as though your life is running you instead of you running your life? It happens to all of us. Things get out of control. It is pointless to think the day will come when you will have it all figured out and nothing will ever ruffle your feathers again. Instead why not have tools to reduces the stress and strain, focus your mind and regroup your energies?
I call it taking a quiet moment. I can do it almost anywhere. I simply stop moving and center my breath. If it is appropriate I will close my eyes. If it isn't appropriate I focus my eyes on an object or the horizon. And then I slowly breath while allowing my mind to go blank. It isn't easy to let your mind go blank. Thoughts will pop up and try to grab your attention. Simply push those to the side and breath. It is amazing how much clearer you will become after only a brief quiet moment. I highly recommend it.

I have always been interested in self perception and self actualization. As a psychology student at UCLA I was profoundly interested in self actualization. I find it fascinating that some people will work toward being themselves fully, and enjoy the world fully through their individual experience.
Equally I am astounded by the percentage of the population that does not feel entitled to be themselves fully. If you understand fully that you are capable of doing anything that you want to, if you understand that you have the power to determine your own lifestyle, there is no limit to what you can accomplish. Are you self actualized?

I think it is important to stand in your truth everyday. There are a lot of people out there who will tell you that you need to be something different than what you are, that you need to do things differently than you are right now. It's so important that you know who you are before listening to any of these well intentioned people.
It is great to listen and be inspired by someone, but if you aren't careful you can loose track of who you are authentically. If someone is suggesting that you change something about yourself take the time to consider what their motivation is. Ask yourself if the idea of the change excites you or causes you feelings of dread. If you are standing in your truth you will be free to be inspired and make changes that are fitting for you.
