Westerville History - the Underground Railroad
Benjamin Hanby lived in Westerville as a teen and young man. His father William Hanby was an abolitionist. Hanby House was a station on the Underground Railroard.
The song "Darling Nelly Gray" was the story of an escaped slave Joe Selby on his way to Canada to earn money to free Nelly Gray.

Hanby House - 160 W. Main Street Westerville Ohio is owned by the Ohio Historical Society and operated by the Westerville Historical Society.

Columbus is the capital of Ohio, home of the Ohio State University a great place to live and contrary to some opinions a great place to visit (ask the visitor and convention bureau if you don't believe me!) Columbus is a big city that doesn't feel big. Columbus is a unique big city in that it is still growing. There's lots of exciting redevelopment in downtown Columbus too.
The Columbus area in Central Ohio includes thriving suburbs as well including Worthington, Dublin, Westerville, Powell, Lewis Center, Hilliard, Minerva Park, Riverlea, Gahanna, Upper Arlington, Grandview, New Albany and more.
The neighborhoods of downtown Columbus are wonderful but not where I sell.
For me downtown is "a great place to visit..." and I mean no disrespect to those who live in Columbus urban neighborhoods. I love downtown Columbus for First Night, Red, White & Boom, the Columbus Arts Festival, Festival Latino... and more.
