Another day of shopping has passed me by and I have only 14 more shopping days to go until Christmas. My list isn't getting any smaller. I remember a time when the retail stores weren't open on Sundays. That would mean I would have only 12 more shopping days. Those times seem a little simpler. I remember the family gathering for lunch after church and we only had three channels to fight over watching. As always, all my shopping will be done on time, but its fun to reflect on times gone by.
Merry Christmas
Christmas at our office will be a little different this year. Our tradition in the past has been to bring a wrapped gag gift or a Christmas ornament. Everyone gets to pick a pretty package and make a trade. We've all had lots of fun opening "who knows what" and making our one and only trade. This year we felt our community needs trumped our humorous Christmas swap. This year our staff and Realtors have chosen to bring in food to distribute in our community. This may become our new tradition.
Merry Christmas

This brochure will outline laws and issues that affect consumers in their purchase and sale of real property.
Title Insurance
When you finance a property, the mortgage company will usually obtain title insurance to secure the mortgage company's interest in the property. The mortgage company's title insurance does not protect you as the buyer. If you want to protect yourself and your interest, you must purchase a homeowner's title insurance policy.

Truth in Lending Act ("TILA")
The federal government also passed the Truth in Lending Act ("TILA") to ensure that consumers receive disclosures relating to all fees and interest rates that will be charges for financing a piece of real property. There are certain "trigger terms," such as down payment amount, payment amount, finance charges and payment period. If any of these "trigger terms" is used, then the ads must also disclose the annual percentage rate, down payment required, and/or the terms of repayment.
