The Senate just unanomously approved a $15,000 tax credit for new home buyers. The proposal was brought by Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson. To qualify, the home must be purchased in the 2009 calendar year; tax credit will apply to 2010 tax; tax credit would be $15,000 or 10% of the purchase price - whichever is less. Purchases made within 1 year of And, "purchases must be made within one year of the legislation's enactment, and the tax credit would not have to be repaid". And just when you think it can't get better, hold on! If the home is purchased before July 2009, the credit can be claimed on your 2008 taxes. Read the full article HERE.

This happened this morning to my sister's co-worker so I am posting it help keep you and your family safe. Be alert!
"Hi - I wanted to pass this on ASAP this morning. My mother was at the post office at 84th and Center on Wed. She was in her car. An older woman came up to the car door and was speaking Spanish and was motioning for her to roll down her window. All of a sudden she grabbed the door handle and tried to open her car door. At the same time - a man appeared at the passenger side door and tried to open that. Karrie's doors were locked THANK GOD. After the police were called and this was reported - the police told her that they are doing this all over the city. While you are being distracted on one side of your car - there will be someone else trying to get in on the passenger side. DRIVE WITH YOUR DOORS LOCKED AT ALL TIMES.
STAY ALERT AND LOOK AROUND. THIS HAPPENED IN BROAD DAYLIGHT AT A VERY PUBLIC PLACE - A POST OFFICE! According to the police - this is happening several times a day in West Omaha. They also said these creeps have tried leaving notes on cars. When you stop to take the note off your windshield and read it - it gives them time to run up on you.
Sorry to send this. I know it is scary - but I thought everybody should know. HEADS UP. LET EVERYBODY KNOW ABOUT THIS."

Our family size has increased, once again, thanks to Hearts United for Animals. I'd like to introduce the newest and oldest member of our family, Mandy.

Mandy is an 8 year old grey Toy Poodle. She weighs 9 lbs and is an absolute DELIGHT! She loves people and one of the first things she does when she meets someone is to let them know she is there and offer them the priviledge of rubbing her tummy. And if you don't notice she's offering her tummy, that's ok, she's patient. She'll wait for you to notice because she doesn't want you to miss the opportunity.
She's quite the spunky self confident little thing. During the ride home, she spent the first 30 minutes looking out the window and the other 30 minutes laying on top of our other two dogs sleeping! When we got home, she walked in the house as if she'd lived there for years.
Our other two dogs, Llana and Marble, are also HUA alumn. Llana is a Bichon who will be 8 this year. Marble is a Bichon/Poodle mix who will be 4 this year.

If you or somone you know is looking to add to their family, I highly recommend Hearts United. Not all of their dogs are on the website so call and ask them if you are looking for a particular breed. I'll bet they'll have the perfect one for you.
Hearts United for Animals is a National No Kill Shelter that specializes in long distance adoptions.

If you listen to the national news on the real estate market all you will hear is "The sky is falling". I'm here to say it's not falling here!
Nebraska ranked 39th in the nation last year (according to Realtytrac) and Nebraska foreclosures declined 12% in 2008.
Combine that with a ten month inventory of homes on the market and record low interest rates and what do you get?
The Nebraska real estate market is looking good! It's a great time to buy!
