In an earlier blog post I talked about focusing our spending closer to home! By that I mean supporting local business which will in turn bring others into your neighborhood and help improve the area and potentially your property values. Well for 2011, one of my personal goals is to do just that, and through blogging will share great experiences I have at some of my neighborhood businesses!
Today's feature is Cavas Wine Tasting Room in Mary Brickell Village! I had a chance to enjoy an evening at Cavas last night with friends. The wine bar new to the Mary Brickell Village is located only steps from great buildings such as Icon Brickell, Axis Brickell, Jade, The Plaza, Epic and 500 Brickell to name a few. The concept had a comfortable, non intimidating atmosphere that will be sure to please the wine novice or connoisseur. The staff was friendly and attentive, and you could choose to either self serve your wine from their state-of-the-art Enomatic dispensing system, or have a server take care of you. My initial thought was "so many wines, where do I start!" Staff was great to educate and make recommendations based on my preferences and helped make a fantastic experience. Pairing wine with great cheese platter and sandwich selections added to the experience. Live in the Brickell area, or looking for a great place to grab a glass of wine in Miami! Be sure to put Cavas on your "to do" list!

Victoria Park may just be your place! I have to admit, Victoria Park ranks in my top neighborhoods in South Florida personally, and one I would love to call home! So why all the hype? Victoria Park is a neighborhood rooted with history. The neighborhood's Civic Association says the neighborhood was founded by Albert G. Kuhn of Washington DC and named it after his daughter named Victoria. Kuhn developed and sold hundreds of lots in the neighborhood dating back to the 1920's with prices originally ranging from just over $5000, to $125K! For any who may be wondering, considering inflation, $125K in 1925 would be comparable to almost $20M today! Victoria Park was obviously the place to be in 1925, much like it is today!
So why Victoria Park? The neighborhood has everything! Quaint parks, lushly landscaped streets and almost all types of homes you could want. From new construction contemporary, to mid century bungalow's, three story townhouses, condo's and waterfront estates this combination of homes brings a variety of residents! Whatever stage of life you are in, you'll be sure to find something perfect here! Great restaurants and shopping are also close by. My favorite restaurant in the country is steps away off of Sunrise Blvd. Canyon features a southwestern style fine dining that is incredible! Signature items are their "Prickly Pear" margarita, white chocolate bread pudding, and tuna tartar. All three my favorites! Also the Galleria Mall is only steps away for some great shopping!
