Taking a break from Real Estate...... (Hey, we've got to live too!)
The undisputed King of the Blues, B. B. King, played in town the other night and we were there!
In a little theater, we fittingly enough had tickets for row "BB".
At 82 years old, B. B. might have lost a little of his onstage swagger. But none of his trademark string bending, nor any of his vocal range was among the missing. This guy's still got it!

If you've ever seen B. B. live in concert, then you know the deal. If not, here it is.........
Before every B. B. show, his guitar "Lucille" sits alone center stage and the crowd all sneaks in front of it for a picture with the legendary ax. Well, my dear friend Christy (who had never seen B. B. live before) and I felt obligated to do the same. So, we saddled ourselves right up against the stage when we noticed that there were two seats in the 2nd row center that were oddly enough vacant. Being the avid concertgoers that we are, we decided to plop ourselves down and hope that no one came for them. Sure enough, the lights went down, B. B. came out, and for the next 2 hours, we were 10 feet from the master himself! 2nd row center for a legend! It doesn't get any better than that!
B. B. was really great that evening running through all the classics that you'd expect and hope to hear, the band was as tight as ever, and B. B. told lots of stories from "back in the days".
After the show, B. B. got up, thanked the crowd repeatedly, and threw out little guitar lapel pins and B. B. King world tour necklaces. Christy and I were fortunate enough to get one for each of us to help commemorate our evening.
But the real thrill of the evening came when we walked right up to the king of the Blues himself, reached out and got to shake his hand. We were still in a state of disbelief as we were heading home saying to ourselves over and over, "We got to shake B. B.'s hand! How cool is that?"
It was an evening and a memory that will live on for us forever.
The Thrill Is (Not) Gone!
On Wednesday April 30th, former President Bill Clinton came to visit "The Peak of Good Living" town of Apex.
No matter what your political bent is, when someone of this magnitude comes to visit our town, both Linda and I felt we should be a part of this special event. So, we decided to get up and go see the crowds, listen to him speak and, if nothing else, say we were part of a historic event in Apex, NC. Sure we could have attended the chamber of commerce meeting in Holly Springs scheduled for the same time. But this was big. Really big...especially for Apex!
Again, regardless of your political bent, Bill Clinton is a very dynamic speaker. He stood up there and without the aid of teleprompter, notes, or cue cards, gave a nearly hour long speech on topics relevant to this year's election.
One of the highlights of the event was when he had finished speaking, he came in to the crowd and shook hands and posed for pictures with those who attended. There was a 90+ year old woman there and her caregiver told Clinton that the old woman had come just to shake his hand. When the former President was told of her age, he replied, "Wow, you were just 5 years old when women were given the right to vote." We thought that was pretty neat that instantaneously he had calculated her age, the year women were give the right to vote, and shared that with the old woman. Naturally, she, and the crowd, were impressed.
Anyway, it was nice to see a person who had once held the highest position in the world come to our little town of Apex and share his insights, and some humor with the 400+ people who had attended.
We took some pretty good pictures and if you'd like for us to send them to you via email, please don't hesitate to email us at RJTeam@gmail.com. We'll get them right out to you.
Oh, and remember, no matter who you're voting for this year, please remember to register and VOTE. You can't complain who's in office if you've not done your part!
