For those of you who know me, or for those who have read my posts, you know that when I grow up I want to be a black Bluesman like BB King or Robert Johnson. I can assure you that's not going to be an easy task for a short, skinny white kid originally from New York City!!! But I have dreams and ambitions so stop laughing!!!
Anyway, as I struggle to learn to play guitar, something I'm determined to do this year, the next best thing is to go and see the greats perform.
On Sunday February 15th, at the RBC Center in Raleigh, the City of Oaks will get a serious case of the Blues!
This year's lineup includes Sir Charles Jones, Clarence Carter, Roy C, Mel Waiters, Latimore, Marvin Sease, Theodis Ealey, and Floyd Taylor!
The show starts at 6:00 PM and the doors open at 5:00 PM. Ticket info.
I'll be there. Hope to see you there too!

Kay Yow
March 14, 1942 - Jan. 24, 2009
Kay Yow, the inspirational North Carolina State University women's basketball coach, passed away yesterday. She was 66.
Yow, who finally succombed to her decades long battle with breast cancer, achieved heights of coaching success that many can only dream of. And, more importantly, she raised awareness and money for a disease that affects millions of people around the world.
Kay Yow had a career record of 737-344 in 38 years, 34 of which were with the NCSU Wolfpack. She was the coach of the women's Olympic gold medal winning team in 1988 and was a true ambassador of the sport of basketball.

The Raleigh, Cary and Apex areas of North Carolina are, in the simplest of words, just plain beautiful!
Folks from all over the country consistently relocate here as housing is still affordable, the economy has not been hit as hard as the rest of the country, and jobs are still obtainable.
Add to the equation that we have great weather, great schools, a major sports team in the Carolina Hurricanes, some of the best college basketball in the country, exceptional golf courses and lots of green space still, it's no wonder many consider this area a great place to call home.
All too often,I get buyers looking for homes with some land. My answer is typically the same, "Well, you can't get an acre in downtown Raleigh or Cary, but there are plenty of homes for sale with an acre or more just minutes away."
With prices starting anywhere from $150,000 and ranging to over $4.5 million, there's a home with an acre of land (or more) just waiting for you!

While much of the nation is hibernating in their homes, steeped in frigid winter temperatures, here in the Raleigh area of North Carolina, we still have many winter days that are comfortable enough for a round of golf.

In fact, golfing is pretty much a year round sport in the “Triangle” region. There are over 25 public and nearly a dozen private courses just waiting for you to tee off!
We even have a TPC golf course where many professional tournaments are held annually.

The Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic, named, and in honor of legendary NC State University basketball coach, Jim Valvano, is held annually in the Raleigh suburb of Cary. Notable celebrities who have participated in the past include Stuart Scott and Trey Wingo from ESPN, Aaron and Cam Ward from the NHL, Rick Cerone and Tony Womack from Major League Baseball and many other television and sports luminaries. All proceeds from the tournament go to the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

Whatever your handicap is, if you like to play the links, and are thinking of relocating to the Raleigh area, there are hundreds of homes here ranging in price from $200,000 to over $4,000,000 located in golf course communities.

With all the new homes being built here in the Raleigh, Cary and Apex areas of North Carolina, a sight like this is not too uncommon as developers move old houses like this one to make way for new homes.
