Fun, Friends and Finds at the Downtown Fullerton Mercantile Flea Market!

Ron & Cristal Flea MarketToday I attended a new event in Downtown Fullerton, The Mercantile Flea Market. I believe this was the second or third one. So far and it is off to a great start and sure to be a hit!

While there, so many of my friends and client's stopped by. I let everone know about it as well as sent out an email letting them know that I would be there for the day selling some of my vintage wares - I have lots of collections of this and that and figured this was a good way to purge a little as well as be involved with something downtown. Plus, I love Flea Markets so I was in! Who doesn't love a great find?

Stephanie & CristalIt was such a great day and I was so TOUCHED that so many of my friends and clients stopped by to support the new market and me! Not only did so many people stop by, I met lots of new and interesting people too.

The Fullerton Mercantile Flea Market was the brain child of Sabrina who owns a great new store called Carpe Diem and it is right behind her store on the corner of Harbor and Santa Fe the first Saturday of every month.

The next Mercantile Flea Market will be held on Saturday, July 5th and the hours are from 10:00 to 4:00. Come on down and see your friends and find a treasure or two!

Seize The Day in Downtown Fullerton - A FAB New Store and a Flea Market Too!

For the past few weeks, I have been seeing this great bright green sign on Harbor on the corner just south of Commonwealth. I kept trying to slow down to read what it was but it was tough. All I know is I thought I saw some cool stuff and one day a sign about a FLEA MARKET!

Not only do I love Downtown Fullerton but I love a great Flea Market! I thought that Fullerton would be the perfect place for one for years! Now we have it!

The bright green sign was for the store Carpe Diem Experience. I finally went in there last week and met the owner, Sabrina. What a nice lady with such a positive and sweet attitude. Her store is full of all sorts of interesting things from potted plants, to handmade things from local artists to jewelry to home decor, and so much more. The best part is that her prices are very reasonable.

This is a harmonious place where you can find objects of art from local artists, handcrafted gifts and door from all over the world and an abundance of architectural elements, plants an pottery.

It is surrounded by iron gates, a secret garden, a skin treatment day spa, (CHI Cottage Health by Inga), handcrafted jewelry designer/boutique (RK Designs) and unique classes to inspire visitors to be creative and live well! Come in and when you leave, you will SEIZE THE DAY

carpe diemSo head on down to Carpe Diem and the Flea Market located at: 115 S. Harbor Blvd., Saturday, June 7th from 10:00 am to 4:00.

Meet At The Market! Downtown Fullerton Farmer's Market on Thursdays!

One of the things I really love about Fullerton is that they have their very own Farmer's Market (in fact two). I look forward to the THURSDAY one every year as it is only from April through October.

Can you believe that yesterday was the first time I have been there this year? I can't believe it!

My friends and I all text, call or email about meeting at the market. We never have a certain time or anything since we all have kids, jobs, etc... but we just hope to catch one another there.

No friends you say? This is the BEST place to meet them! Just go the the Market on Wilshire and Harbor on Thursdays between 4:00 and 8:00.

Go to the Beer Garden! I have made so many new friends here and a lot of people that are new to the area tell me this is where they have gone to meet new people. It is ok to go by yourself! You will make friends quickly!

There is more than just beer too! You can bring your kids to ride the train, eat some yummy baked goods or other good stuff from the food vendors, buy some fresh fruits and veggies and listen to the weekly band. It is fun for the whole family!

Fullerton Farmer's Market,Thursdays (April through October), 4:00 to 8:30, Wilshire and Harbor in Downtown Fullerton.

See you there!

A Fullerton, CA Icon Gets Ready to Close - Goodbye Puddleducks

Closing of a Fullerton Icon...

Sadly, it is becoming a sign of the times; Small businesses closing due to declining sales and increasing rents.

Unfortunately Puddleducks is no exception. As of June 10, 2008, they will officially be closed.

Right now their store merchandise is marked down by 50% and some vendors have also marked down their goods.

Puddleducks has been in Fullerton in the Stater Bros. Shopping Center for the past 17 years according to Joy, the store's owner. It has been a destination spot for many long time Fullerton locals as well as kids in the neighborhood (including my son) that would ride their bike or skateboard on over. Often times to buy a gift for their mom.

It makes me so sad to see this happening to so many of our businesses. I guess it is a part of life but I love our small town feel of Fullerton. Puddleducks was no exception and they were always so sweet and helpful. Stop by and say, "Good bye" to Joy and Heidi.
