It's a constant struggle...get up, out of bed and do something good for myself! It seems to go in spurts. I can get up and get out and get some great 
cardio...then, it rains, or it's freezing or my running companion, Katie Dog, has to have surgery so I get lazy.
Today was beautiful and sunny so I got up and got out. I have to hide from my dog because if she sees my running shoes, she wants to come but since she just had surgery, she is down for weeks. I feel guilty but I know she would want me to do it. Heck, I know she wouldn't wait around for me.
With so many beautiful trails and parks in Fullerton, it's easy! I run out the door and to the right, and I hit the Fullerton Loop. It is an awesome series of trails (miles of them to be exact) full of horses, people, mountain bikers, wildlife and amazing landscape.
Run out the door to the left and up the street is Hillcrest Park. What a great old historical park complete with lots of crazy, old stone stairways that will certainly kick your booty...well, mine anyway!
Not only is my running around Fullerton good for my body but for my mind and spirit. I have my best ideas and get inspired when I get up and out. Boy, I am so lucky to live and work in the city of Fullerton CA and it's wonder so many people want to live here! Much of Fullerton Real Estate is not as adversely affected as so many other towns. Sure, the prices are down but the buyers are out and inventory is low.
Today is going to be a great day. I live in a beautiful town, have a wonderful family and feel inspired. My mind, body and spirit feel energized and there are so many people that need my help to find them a place to call home.

Let's face it, we cold all use a good Happy Hour every once in a while and I was certainly in that mood last week. I wanted a good drink a little bite to eat in a nice environment and of course, I wanted to go Downtown.
Downtown Fullerton has some GREAT places and I have been to them all! I reallywanted to try something a little different and a friend recommended the Envy Ultra Lounge. Can you believe I didn't even know they were open early enough for happy hour? Shame on me! I had been there before but I always thought it was just a late night place.
We sat at the bar and got to talking to John, the bartender; what a nice guy! He made some recommendations and I had a raspberry martini and my friend had the Sweet Tart one (I think that is what it was called). We also ordered the kobe beef sliders and asparagus fries.
OMG! The martinis were delicious really a martini and a half and the food? AMAZING! We chatted with John and a few people came in and out but we had almost the whole place to ourselves. I can not believe that with half price martini's and appetizers, the place wasn't packed! We were happy because my fiend and I wanted to catch up and could hear each other!

What the heck is Monkey Business? Could it be messing around when no one is looking? Hi-jinks in Fullerton? What? I am so glad you asked!
Monkey Business is a cute cafe located on Lemon and Amerige in Downtown Fullerton. You know, I have driven by so many times but never took the time to go in. I knew a bit about it but wanted to learn more. Luckily, I met Jacqueline, the Program Coordinator at a recent Chamber of Commerce meeting and she was happy to oblige.
Monkey Business Cafe, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit social enterprise, was opened in August 2005 in direct response to the need for further support for the non profit it feeds - Hart Community Homes. Monkey Business Cafe offers a 6 month paid job training program. Participants work one-on-one with a job coach to foster a pathway to success that includes work experience, enjoyability skills and living skills. Today I found out about an upscale resale boutique in Brea, CA. I love a deal so I headed on over to see what it was all about. Boy, was I shocked when I walked into what looked like an expensive boutique! Only it wasn't expensive at all.
As I wandered around the manager, Mimi and I started chatting. Imagine my surprise when I found out that .96 on ever dollar supports Working Wardrobes programs to get adults in crises back to work! I had to clarify; "You mean, I get a great deal on some fabulous clothes AND support a worthwhile cause? SOLD!
The Hanger at Brea is one of three boutiques that is operated by Working Wardrobes. They had just about anything you could imagine from accessories to suits and more. I just kept thinking, "man, I wish I would have found this place before the holidays so I could have bought my cocktail dress here!" It is a great place to buy something "fancy" because that stuff doesn't get much wear. I picked up a fab sweater for 20 bucks.
They get new items all the time and are happy to accept gently loved clothing that is clean and on hangers. Donation receipts are available too. The Hanger also has volunteer opportunities. Have fun, do a good deed and attend parties...yes, parties!
Not only that but the Hanger even host's "Girls Night Out" parties. Groups of 10 or more enjoy a shopping extravaganza with personal shoppers, libations and tasty treats!
