Both the Tampa & Sarasota MSA's reported a 30% increase in sales for July 2009 compared to July 2008 numbers. The median sales price in Tampa was down 19% from a year ago to $143,100 and the median sales price in Sarasota was down 22% from a year ago to $179,500. Sales of existing single-family homes in Florida rose 23 percent in second quarter 2009 compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the latest housing statistics from the Florida Association of Realtors® (FAR). Sales of existing condominiums statewide in the second quarter rose 29 percent compared to the same time the previous year. Housing prices in the Sarasota-Bradenton market posted a nearly 10 percent increase during the second quarter when compared with the first three months of the year, and sales rose 20 percent.
