FOUR WORDS WORTH KNOWING

Learn The Four Words Worth Knowing Before You Buy

First-time home buyers are often confused by an array of unfamiliar terms used in the buying and selling process. Even the greenest buyers, however, can save thousands of dollars in financing by mastering just four words: Chalkboard

  • Interest
  • Principal
  • Amortization
  • Equity
Interest, of course, is the cost of borrowing the money to buy the property. During the first years, the monthly payments are largely interest. A smaller portion of the payment is credited to the loan itself, or the principal. The process of reducing the principal is called amortization. As the loan is gradually paid off, the homeowner's actual ownership - or equity - is increased.

Confused by the many details involved in buying, selling, and financing? We've helped others through the maze, and we can help you. Call or e-mail us today for clear-headed and professional assistance with your real estate needs. More Tips

LISTING AGREEMENT

11-23-08
Lon Reed

What is a "listing agreement?"

A listing agreement is a contract to hire a real estate broker to sell your home. The document contains: Pad of Paper

  • A description of your property.
  • Your asking price.
  • Any available seller financing.
  • Conveyance of any specific personal property.
  • A specific length of time for the agreement and an agreed commission to the broker.
By listing your home, you grant the broker the exclusive right to sell the property during a determined period. This means that if another cooperating broker provides a buyer, your listing broker will be paid the commission, which will be shared with the cooperating broker who produces a buyer for your home.

You usually agree to the placement of your broker's "For Sale" sign on your property, and the placement of ads to attract buyers. You also agree to a safe, convenient mode of having your home shown to prospective buyers. Your listing broker supervises the use of keys to your home.

Use our experience in listing and selling homes to your advantage. We'll be happy to talk to you about your specific situation and concerns. More Tips
