We just listed a house in Meadow Lakes that had a whole house facelift. The work was done by one of our preferred contractors, David Jourdan. The results are outstanding!
Besides all new paint, floors, doors and hardware, one of the biggest improvements came from resurfacing the kitchen countertops and bathroom tile. I thought I would pass this tidbit along in case anyone needs to update a kitchen or bath in a cost efficient way. The countertops and tile were "resurfaced" - not replaced, which saved the homeowner hundreds of $$$. The tub was also reglazed making the bathtub area look brand new.
The kitchen countertops went from a "dated" apple green to an updated seamless look that looks and feels like a solid surface.
Here are some "before" and "after" pictures so you can see the results for yourself.

You can find David Jourdan's contact information, along with other trusted referral partners, in my online business directory if your house or yard needs a spring "facelift".

For those of you who have lived in Edmond for a while, it is no secret that Edmond has a fine park system. What I didn't know was the number of parks that are maintained by the city. And some of the parks I thought were maintained by neighborhoods are actually city maintained!
The city parks and recreation department is one of the reasons that young families flock to Edmond to establish a home for their young families. Even this senior citizen can enjoy the amenities of the city parks. There are 26 total parks maintained by the City of Edmond.
The surprise (for me) neighborhood parks maintained by the city are the following:
Kelly Park
Meadowlakes Park
Whispering Heights Park
Westborough Park
Brookhaven Park and many more.
What a simple pleasure to throw some sandwiches in a sack and walk with the kids to the park for a picnic lunch. Thank goodness the city forefathers had the foresight to plan for these small neighborhood parks.
One of my favorite Edmond city parks is Stephenson Park, located at Boulevard and 5th street. The rocket slide was a huge draw when my kids were little. And the landscape is mature and beautiful. In the spring, the crepe myrtles are breathtaking. Of course, another draw to this park is the Edmond Historical Society museum located inside the old armory. If you haven't visited, do so! It's free and interesting to learn about Edmond's early days.
Mitch Park features an amphitheater, softball fields, walking/biking trails and a disc golf course. The disc golf course is dedicated in memory of my fellow Re/Max Associates' son, Ty Cunningham. Be sure to take a look at the statue dedicated in his memory if you visit the disc golf course.
Hafer Park seems to be a haven for young families with the duck pond and fishing for the littlest Edmond citizens. In addition to the pond, there are outstanding pavilions, walking trails and the baseball complex.
Fink park is another wonderful park. Located across the street from the University of Central Oklahoma, the park features a large picnic pavillion with chargoal grills set amongst beautiful canna lilies and crepe myrtles. But when you cross the creek that divides the park, there is another park area with playground equipment, picnic pavillioins and charcoal grills. This is a perfect spot to spread out a blanket and watch the fireworks at UCO on the fourth of July!
The other BIG park in Edmond is relatively new. It is the park featuring the 'dog park' at 33rd and Rankin, Bickham-Rudkin Park. Many people don't realize that there are walking trails, a pond and a large playground behind the pavilion on 33rd street.
Here is the City of Edmond's complete listings of city maintained parks.

So with those resolutions in mind, I am heading out Friday, for Disney World to spend time with one of my daughters and her family. I'll be gone for a long weekend and back at the office by Tuesday. Lisa will be here if you need anything while I am gone.
ps..........Let me know what your resolutions are.
I have been too busy to even get my Christmas tree up! But that does not mean I am NOT in the Christmas spirit.
Bill and I played the part of "Grandpa and Grandma" in our church musical. Several youngsters from the church played our grandchildren. They did a wonderful job. But our real grandchildren, who came to watch the production, could not understand why the other children were calling us Grandma and Grandpa. Finally, after wrestling with the two year old all through the program, our son-in-law let him go and he climbed up on stage to sit in HIS Grandpa's lap for the final song. It was so cute!
So.........Christmas is just a little more than a week away. I have Christmas in my heart, I just need to get it in my house. The kids and grandkids will be here. I have the turkey. Now I need to shop for grandkids, decorate....you know - the little things! (Oh! The wood is chopped. We did that last weekend.)
In January, I am looking forward to Bill and I meeting our daughter, son-in-law and grandkids at Disney World. They live in Wyoming, and we don't see them as often as the rest. Our daughter and son-in-law will be running in the Disney World Marathon, while Bill and I play with the kids. Fair trade-off, I think, don't you?

In addition to my personal life, business is picking up as we near the end of 2008. Interest rates are again at an historic low. Call me if you would like to see what your home might be worth in this market.
Now, I've got to go look for those elves who are going to help throw this Christmas together!
