Dale Heck is an avid amateur golfer who played most of his competitive golf in the Philadelphia area in the 1980's and 90's. He received his BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University. During college, he caddied in a US Open and once caddied for Arnold Palmer and Doug Sanders. Dale spent several years with Firestone Corporation and the Vel's Parnelli Jones racing team working with Mario Andretti, Al Unser Jr. and Joe Leonard. He began a 20 year career with the Mobil Research and Development Corporation, retiring at the age of 49 after being awarded more than 20 US Patents. He has lived in the Pinehurst area for almost a decade and has acquired a working knowledge of the Pinehurst golf communities that has helped him win several "Top Producer Real Estate Awards". Dale has played all of the courses in the Pinehurst area and he can answer most questions concerning our golf and equestrian communities. Dale has four grown children and three grandchildren.

Pinehurst North Carolina is a samll town located about one hour east of Charlotte and about 1 hour south of Raleigh. Although it is a great place to retire if one plays golf, it offers numerous other activities for non-golfing retirees. With great shopping, good restaurants and planty of parks it offers a wide range of outdoor activities. The Pinehurst village is set in a serene and beautiful forest. that has several homes dating back to the late 1800's. The village of Pinehurst was found by James Walker Tufts in 1895 with the goal of being a healthful retreat for friends from New England trying to get away from the cold North-east. Tuft hired famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted assisted to design the village to resemble a quaint New England village. Golf quickly followed with the arrival of Donald Ross, a scottish course designer. |

Most Americans know this town as the home of Pinehurst Resort, which contains one of the country's oldest and most prestigious golf courses. Yet it's also a friendly year-round community with a bustling downtown, first-rate regional hospital, and mild weather.
Granted, at $300,000, the typical home in Pinehurst isn't rock-bottom cheap. But all residents are eligible for membership in the resort, which boasts eight golf courses, 24 tennis courts, three pools, and a 200-acre lake with a beach. If you buy a home from someone who already has a membership, you can pay $12,000 to join vs. $40,000 normally.
While the ability to hit the links all year is a big attraction, social life need not center on the sport. "We don't even golf," says Richard Fumea, 65, a retired human resources executive who moved here four years ago with his wife, Susan, 56.
